Whitehaven, Temporary Road Closures & Parking Restrictions Due To Utility Works

What is happening?

CUMBERLAND COUNCIL (U4312 NEW STREET, A5094 DUKE STREET AND U4314 SENHOUSE STREET, WHITEHAVEN) (TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION) ORDER 2025

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable utility works to be carried out (“the Works”), Cumberland Council has made an

Order the effect of which is to:

  1. Prohibit any vehicle from proceeding along that section of New Street, Whitehaven, from its junction with Lowther Street, to its junction with Duke Street.

    Duration: From 20 August 2025 for approx. 13 days

  2. Prohibit any vehicle from proceeding along that section of Senhouse Street, Whitehaven, from its junction with Duke Street, extending in a north easterly direction for approx. 20m.

    Duration: From 8 September 2025 for approx. 3 days

    A way for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times and alternative routes will be signed and available along surrounding roads, whilst following the existing one way restrictions in Whitehaven Town Centre.

  3. Prohibit any vehicle from waiting at any time, on any day and/or from loading and unloading, at any time, on any day (including blue badge holders) along the following sections of road:

    (i) Duke Street, Whitehaven, (south west) from its junction with New Street, extending in a north westerly direction for approx. 20m; and

    (ii) Duke Street, Whitehaven, (south west) from its junction with New Street, extending in a south easterly direction for approx. 40m; and

    (iii) Duke Street, Whitehaven, (north east) from its junction with Senhouse Street, extending in a north westerly direction for approx. 30m.

    Duration: From 29 August 2025 for approx. 12 days

    The Order will come into operation on 20 August 2025 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restrictions will only be required as detailed above, and only as and when the appropriate traffic signs are displayed.
