West Lancashire Summer Triathlon, Westhead, Lathom - Temporary Prohibition of Through Traffic

THE LANCASHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL (WEST LANCASHIRE SUMMER TRIATHLON, WESTHEAD, LATHOM, WEST LANCASHIRE BOROUGH) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2025 

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Lancashire County Council (“The County Council”) intend to make an Order under Section 16A of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, the effect of which will be to temporarily prohibit any motor vehicle or cycle (apart from those participating in the event) from proceeding over the following lengths of highway, in the Borough of West Lancashire, as set out below;. 

i. School Lane, from its junction with Vicarage Lane to its junction with Whiteleys Lane 

ii. Ruff Lane, from its junction with Vicarage Lane to its junction with Scarth Hill Lane 

iii. Whiteleys Lane from its junction with Scarth Hill Lane to its junction with A577 Wigan Road (Lathom) 

iv. Vicarage Lane in a North East and Easterly direction from its junction with Ruff Lane to its junction with School Lane 

v. Ruff Lane in a South Easterly direction from its junction with Beech Meadow to its junction with Vicarage Lane 

vi. Scarth Hill Lane from its junction with Whiteleys Lane to its junction with A570 St Helens Road (Ormskirk) An alternative route for vehicular traffic affected by the closures is as follows; 

i. Ruff Lane - A570 Knowsley Road – A577 Wigan Road – A577 Cross Hall Brow – A577 Wigan Road and vice versa 

ii. Ruff Lane - A570 Knowsley Road – A577 Wigan Road – A577 Cross Hall Brow – School Lane – Vicarage Lane 

iii. A577 Wigan Road – A577 Cross Hall Brow – A577 Wigan Road A570 St Helens Road and vice versa Pedestrian, Cycle and Emergency Services access will be maintained via marshal points at all times, vehicular access will be maintained whenever and wherever possible. The Police, Fire and Ambulance Services have been informed. 

The temporary prohibition is necessary to enable the holding of the West Lancashire Summer Triathlon 2025. 

The prohibition will be operative from 0700 hours until 1430 hours on Sunday 24th August 2025.
