EAST SUSSEX COUNTY COUNCIL

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984

The East Sussex (Public Bridleway Little Horsted 10b, Public Footpaths East Hoathly with Halland 30, Framfield 6, Framfield 7, Framfield 11)

(Temporary Bridleway and Footpath Closure) Order 2025

To protect public safety during works associated with replacing existing electricity powerlines, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following bridleway and footpaths:

Temporary Bridleway and Footpath Closure

The whole of Public Bridleway Little Horsted 10b will be closed to all users between TQ 4740 1881 and TQ 4871 1796.

The whole of Public Footpath East Hoathly with Halland 30 will be closed to all users between TQ 4932 1807 and TQ 4929 1758.

The whole of Public Footpath Framfield 6 will be closed to all users between TQ 4932 1807 and TQ 4940 1839.

The whole of Public Footpath Framfield 7 will be closed to all users between TQ 5050 1843 and TQ 5041 1753.

The whole of Public Footpath Framfield 11 will be closed to all users between TQ 4954 1815 and TQ 4992 1788.

Unfortunately, there are no alternative routes.

The closure will be in force for 6 months from 17 August 2025, or until the works are completed, whichever is the earlier, which after this period will require an extension from the Secretary of State, should the bridleway and footpaths still be unavailable to use.

The East Sussex (Public Footpath Mayfield and Five Ashes 51c)

(Temporary Footpath Closure) Order 2025

To protect public safety while South East Water and their contractors conduct essential maintenance on an existing water abstraction borehole, East Sussex County Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following footpath:

Temporary Footpath Closure

The whole of Public Footpath Mayfield and Five Ashes 51c will be closed to all users between TQ 6043 2740 and TQ 6067 2756 for a distance of 360 metres. Unfortunately, there is no alternative route, but a suggested alternative is to use other Mayfield and Five Ashes Public Rights of Way to the East such as footpath 54a, bridleways 57g, 49f, 49e, 49d, footpath 51d and vice versa.

The closure will be in force for 6 months from 1 September 2025, or until the works are completed, whichever is the earlier, which after this period will require an extension from the Secretary of State, should the footpath still be unavailable to use.

WILDLIFE AND COUNTRYSIDE ACT 1981

THE EAST SUSSEX COUNTY COUNCIL (LEWES DISTRICT)

DEFINITIVE MAP AND STATEMENT

THE EAST SUSSEX (PUBLIC FOOTPATH RINGMER 34) DEFINITIVE MAP MODIFICATION ORDER 2025

The above Order, made on 8 August 2025, if confirmed as made, will modify the Definitive Map and Statement for the area by adding a public footpath as follows:

A route comprising a public footpath in the civil parish of Ringmer, with an arbitrary centreline, as detailed below, and as shown on the Order Plan between points A-D.

The public footpath Ringmer 34 commences at the extent of public highway Lewes Road (B2192), at point A, at TQ 4563 1282. From point A the public footpath continues in a generally southern direction for approximately 377 metres, to reach point B, at TQ 4573 1245.

From point B the public footpath continues in a south-easterly direction for approximately 234 metres to point C, at TQ 4588 1227. From point C the public footpath continues in a south-southwesterly direction for approximately 212 metres to terminate at the extent of public highway Potato Lane, at point D, at TQ 4584 1207. The width of the public footpaths will be 1.5 metres throughout.

The total length of public footpath to be added is approximately 823 metres.

If the Order is submitted to the Secretary of State for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, any representations or objections which have been duly made and not withdrawn will be sent with it.

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984

The East Sussex (A272 Batts Bridge Road, Maresfield)

(Temporary 30 mph Speed Limit) Order 2025

To allow East Sussex Highways to carry out works, East Sussex County Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily restrict all traffic using the following length of road to a speed not exceeding 30 mph:

Temporary 30 mph Speed Limit

Batts Bridge Road – from the junction with A22 Batts Bridge roundabout to the junction with A272 Goldbridge Road.

The Order commences 1 September 2025 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until the works are completed, whichever is the earlier. However, it is anticipated the speed restriction will be in place between 1 and 5 September 2025 depending upon the weather conditions.

To allow Openreach to carry out works, East Sussex County Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Evelyn Road – from the junction with U5107 Horsfield Road to the junction with the U5107 Lee Road.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via U5107 Lee Road, Eridge Green, Horsfield Road and vice versa.

The Order commences 2 September 2025 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken on 2 September 2025 depending upon the weather conditions.

The Order commences 4 September 2025 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken on 4 September 2025 depending upon the weather conditions.

To allow East Sussex Highways to carry out works, East Sussex County Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

To allow South East Water to carry out works, East Sussex County Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Temporary Road Closure

Green Lane – from the junction with U5660 Broyle Lane to the junction with U7403 Harveys Lane.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via U5660 Broyle Lane – B2192 The Broyle – U7403 Harveys Lane and vice versa.

The Order commences 1 September 2025 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier.

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

To allow East Sussex Highways to carry out works, East Sussex County Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Temporary Road Closure

South View Road – from the junction with A26 Beacon Road to the junction with C11 Whitehill Road.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via C11 Whitehill Road – C254 Hurtis Hill, Sheep Plain – A26 Beacon Road and vice versa.

The Order commences 1 September 2025 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken on 1 and 2 September 2025 depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (U7808 New Road, Crowborough)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

To allow East Sussex Highways to carry out works, East Sussex County Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Temporary Road Closure

New Road – from the junction with A26 Eridge Road to the junction with B2100 High Street.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via A26 Eridge Road – B2100 High Street.

To facilitate this closure, a suspension of one-way traffic will be in place (revert to two-way traffic) during these works.

The Order commences 1 September 2025 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken between 1 and 12 September 2025 depending upon the weather conditions.

The Order commences 18 August 2025 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken on 18 August 2025 depending upon the weather conditions.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via C11 School Lane – A272 Main Road, Curtains Hill and vice versa.

The Order commences 18 August 2025 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken on 18 August 2025 depending upon the weather conditions.

Dewlands Hill – from the junction with C209 Willinghurst Lane to the junction with C209 Castle Hill.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via C209 Castle Hill, Willinghurst Lane and vice versa.

The Order commenced 13 March 2025 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken on 21 and 22 August 2025 depending upon the weather conditions.

Cottage Hill – from the junction with C209 Castle Hill to the junction with B2101 High Cross.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via B2101 Mayfield Road, South Street – B2100 High Street, Church Road, Rotherfield Road – C209 Mottins Hill, Treblers Road, Castle Hill and vice versa.

The Order commences 21 August 2025 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken on 21 and 22 August 2025 depending upon the weather conditions.

To allow East Sussex Highways to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Temporary Road Closure

Under Road – from the junction with U7697 Lower Road to the junction with A271 New Road.

To allow Coppard Plant Hire Ltd to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Temporary Road Closure

New Road – from the junction with C58 Lewes Road to the junction with C26 Eastbourne Road.

To allow East Sussex Highways to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Temporary Road Closure

North Road – from the junction with C16 White Horse Road to the junction with C277 Redpale.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via C277 North Road, Redpale, Bluekiln Road – C18 South Lane – B2096 Woods Corner, Battle Road, Carricks Hill, Earls Down – C279 Rookery Lane – C16 Back Lane, Bodle Street Road, White Horse Road and vice versa.

The Order commences 19 August 2025 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken between 19 and 27 August 2025 depending upon the weather conditions.

The Order commenced 9 April 2025 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken between 20 and 22 August 2025 depending upon the weather conditions.

To allow UKPN to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Temporary Road Closure

Friars Walk/Lansdown Place – from the junction with U5145 Court Road to the junction with B2193 Lansdown Place.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic eastbound via B2193 Station Road, Priory Street, Southover High Street – C7 Bell Lane, Winterbourne Hollow – A277 Western Road, High Street – A2029 Market Street, North Street, Little East Street, Eastgate Street and westbound via A277 High Street, Western Road – C7 Winterbourne Hollow, Bell Lane – B2193 Southover High Street, Priory Street, Station Road.

The Order commences 11 August 2025 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken between 11 and 15 August 2025 depending upon the weather conditions.
