What is happening?

WEST NORTHAMPTONSHIRE COUNCIL

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 – SECTION 14
(PUBLIC FOOTPATH AW16 (PART) – NEWBOTTLE)
(TEMPORARY CLOSURE) ORDER 2025

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the above Order made by West Northamptonshire Council on 13th February 2025 and which came into effect on 20th February 2025 has been extended until the works to which it relates have been completed or until midnight on 20th August 2026 whichever is sooner by the Secretary of State for Transport. Private access to land or premises adjacent to the said footpath is unaffected.

REASON FOR RESTRICTION: The restriction is required for health and safety as the stone retaining wall still requires maintenance.

(Length of footpath to be closed)

That part of Public Footpath AW16 to be closed commences off Main Street at point A on the map at National Grid Reference (‘NGR’) NGR SP5287 3611. The footpath then proceeds generally north of west for 27 metres to terminate at the junction with footpath AW17 at point B at NGR SP5284 3612. The route to be closed is shown on the map by a solid black line between points A-B.

ALTERNATIVE ROUTE: There are 2 alternative routes. Alternative route 1 commences at point A on the footway of Main Street at NGR SP5287 3611. The route proceeds north-east along the footway for 78 metres to point C at NGR SP5290 3618. The route then proceeds along footpath AW17 for 109 metres, generally west and then south to point B at NGR SP5284 3612. Alternative route 2 commences at point A on the footway of Main Street at NGR SP5287 3611. The route then proceeds generally south-west along the footway of Main Street for 98 metres to point E at NGR SP5281 3604. The route then joins the footway of Green Lane and proceeds generally north-west for 14 metres to point F at NGR SP5280 3604. The route then crosses onto the opposite side of the road for 36 metres to point G at NGR SP5279 3607. The route then crossed back across the road and proceeds north-west along the footway for 70 metres to point D at NGR SP5278 3613. The alternative route 1 is shown by a broken black line A-C-B. Alternative route 2 is shown by a broken black line A-E-F-G-D.
