Southend-on-Sea, Temporary Road Closures Due To Carriageway & Footway Patching Works

What is happening?

SOUTHEND-ON-SEA CITY COUNCIL

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 – SECTION 14(1)

TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC, PARKING, STOPPING, WAITING, LOADING AND UNLOADING (ITO25-26 IS) ORDER 2025

(LEIGH HILL/RIVIERA DRIVE/CENTRAL AVENUE/STOCK ROAD/SOUTHBOURNE GROVE/QUEENSWAY/PRIORY CRESCENT)

Notice is hereby given that Southend-on-Sea City Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

The effect of the Order will be to temporarily prohibit any vehicle from traffic, waiting, loading, unloading and parking at the locations stated in Table 1 of this Notice.

Restrictions may apply at any time when signs are in place to inform the Notice is working, or where appropriate signs are showing and a coned-off area permitting.

The alternative route for each location will be as set out in Table 1 of this Notice.

The Order will come into effect on 11th August 2025 and may continue in force for a maximum of 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce whilst carriageway and footway patching work takes place.

Access for emergency vehicles, residents and pedestrians will be maintained at all times during the closures.

The prohibitions or restrictions will simply only during such time and to such extent as indicated by traffic signs in accordance with Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2016.

Any vehicle waiting in contravention of any restriction/prohibition imposed by this Order may be issued with a Penalty Charge Notice and removed under the provisions of the Traffic Management Act 2004.
