Norfolk, Multiple Roads, Temporary Closures Due To Various Works

What is happening?

STOKE HOLY CROSS – U78045 Brickle Road from 275m south of its junction with C188 Long Lane for 100m southwards to facilitate pole testing works between 09:30 and 15:30 on 12th August 2025 (may continue until 23rd September 2025).

Alternative route is via: Brickle Road, Chapel Lane, The Street, The Common, Shotesham Road, Norwich Road (Poringland, Stoke Holy Cross, Shotesham). The works promoter is Openreach.

STOKE HOLY CROSS – C201 Norwich Road from its junction with C188 Long Lane for 410m northwards to facilitate overhead cable works between 09:30 and 15:30 on 11th August 2025 (may continue until 22nd September 2025).

Alternative route is via: Norwich Road, Stoke Road, Mansfield Lane, A146 Barrett Road/Martineau Lane/Loddon Road/Southern Bypass, B1332 Bungay Road/The Street, Stoke Road, Poringland Road, Long Lane (Poringland, Framingham Earl, Trowse with Newton, Stoke Holy Cross, Caistor St. Edmund and Bixley). The works promoter is BT.

SURLINGHAM – C195 Walnut Hill from 160m west of its junction with U78016 New Road for 50m westwards to facilitate stop tap replacement works from 11th to 13th August 2025 (may continue until 24th September 2025).

Alternative route is via: Walnut Hill, Bramerton Road, Surlingham Road, The Street, Rockland Road, Bramerton Lane, Rookery Hill, The Street, Rockland Lane, Mill Road, School Lane (Surlingham, Rockland St. Mary, Bramerton). The works promoter is Anglian Water.

SWAINSTHORPE – C179 Church Road from its junction with B1072S Swadeston Lane for 425m eastwards to facilitate site entrance works from 10th to 15th August 2025 (may continue until 26th September 2025).

Alternative route is via: Swainsthorpe Road, Church Road, Norwich Road, Brick Kiln Lane, Shotesham Road, The Warren Lane (Swainsthorpe, Mulbarton, Newton Flotman). The works promoter is UK Power Networks.

WATTON – A1075 Dereham Road from 167m south of its junction with Lock Road for 150m southwards to facilitate manhole repair works between 19:00 and 06:00 from 13th to 14th August 2025 (may continue until 25th September 2025).

Alternative route is via: A1075 Watton Road/High Street/Church Close/Chapel Street/Market Street/Dereham Road/Shadwell Lane/Lane/Yaxham Road, B1135 Yaxham Road/Norwich Road/Dereham Road/The Lings/Low Street/Westfield Road/Dereham Road/Dumpling Green Road/Highham Road/Norwich Road/Norwich Street/The Fairland/Church Street/Watton Road (Dereham, Toftwood, Scarning, Shipdham, Carbrooke, Griston, Saham, Garvestone, Whinburgh and Westfield, Yaxham, Yaxham, Dereham, Merton, Wretham, Hockham, Watton). The works promoter is UK Power Networks.

WESENHAM – C525 Low Street from its junction with A1065 Fakenham Road for 445m northwards to facilitate pole testing works between 09:30 and 15:30 on 14th August 2025 (may continue until 25th September 2025).

Alternative route is via: A1065 Fakenham Road/Swaffham Road, C761 west Raynham Road/South Raynham Road/The Street/Tollgate Road/Station Road, C333 Rudham Road, C525 Low Street and vice versa (Wellingham, Helhoughton, Raynham, Weasenham and Weasenham St. Peter). The works promoter is BT.

The team dealing with enquiries at Norfolk County Council is South Streetworks.

BARTON BENDISH – Eastmoor Road from 165m north of its junction with Oxborough Road for 225m northwards to facilitate new water main laying works from 11th to 15th August 2025 (may continue until 26th September 2025).

Alternative route is via: Eastmoor Road, Stoke Ferry Road, Oxborough Road, Wretton Road, The Green, Mill Hill Road, Boughton Long Road, Beachamwell Road (Barton Bendish, Boughton). The works promoter is Anglian Water.

BOUGHTON – Oxborough Road from 795m east of its junction with Chapel Road for 285m eastwards to facilitate main laying works. The road will be temporarily subject to a 30mph speed restriction from 11th August to 7th November 2025 (may continue until 7th May 2026). Alternative route is via: N/A. The works promoter is Anglian Water.

HEACHAM – C103 Ringstead Road from 175m north of its junction with U22202 Ringstead Road for 30m northwards to facilitate new water connection works from 11th to 15th August 2025 (may continue until 26th September 2025).

Alternative route is via: Ringstead Road, Sedgeford Road, Heacham Road (Heacham, Sedgeford, Ringstead). The works promoter is Anglian Water.

RUNCTON HOLME, STOW BARDOLPH, TOTTENHILL, WATLINGTON, WIMBOTSHAM – A10 Lynn Road from its junction with A134 Stoke Road to its junction with C884 Lynn Road to facilitate resurfacing works from 14th to 16th August 2025 (may continue until 27th September 2025).

Alternative route is via: Stoke Road, Westbriggs Drove, Lynn Road, Downham Road, Bexwell Road, A10 Downham-Wimbotsham Bypass (Stradsett, Downham Market, Wimbotsham, Ryston, Crimplesham, Morreygay, Tottenhill, Shouldham Thorpe). The works promoter is Norfolk County Council. NB: Please note these works are scheduled to be carried out overnight.

SOUTHERY – B1160 Lynn Road from its junction with A10 to its junction with Feltwell Road to facilitate patching works from 11th to 15th August 2025 (may continue until 6th September 2025).

Alternative route is via: Lynn Road, Feltwell Road, Mill Lane, Churchgate Street, Upgate Street, A10, West Dereham Bypass/Lynn Road/Main Street (Southery, Hilgay, Ten Mile Bank, Bexwell, Downham Market). The works promoter is Norfolk County Council. The team dealing with enquiries at Norfolk County Council is West Streetworks.

Unless otherwise stated, the effect of these Orders will be to prohibit the use by vehicles of the named road(s)/footpath(s). In the event of the start date being delayed the new start date will be displayed on site in advance. Where an Order is for a reason other than works it is because of the likelihood of danger to the public or of serious damage to the road/footpath. Anticipated dates are stated but the Orders may continue until the end date where necessary or required. The Orders are revoked on the end date or on the actual date of removal of the prohibition/restriction where earlier without further notice. If necessary, the restrictions can have a maximum duration of 18 months or 6 months in respect of footpaths, cycle paths, bridleways, restricted byways, and byways open to all traffic (BOAT).

Penalty: £1000 maximum fine on conviction and/or endorsement for contravention.
