CENTRAL BEDFORDSHIRE COUNCIL

(TOUR OF BRITAIN CYCLING EVENT, VARIOUS  ROADS, VARIOUS PARISHES)

(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2025

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Central Bedfordshire Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this Notice to make an Order the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicle, except a vehicle being used for fire, police or ambulance purposes in an emergency or any vehicle engaged in the event, from proceeding along the lengths of the following roads:

•  A6, from the junction with Chapel End Road, Houghton Conquest to the junction with the A507, Clophill

•  Woburn Street, Ampthill - From Clemens Place to Church Street/Dunstable Street

•  Woburn Street, Ampthill- From Parkside Community Hall to Clemens Place

•  Woburn Road, Ampthill – From Parkside Community Hall to A507

The above temporary full closures are required to facilitate the holding of the Tour of Britain Cycling Event and shall apply to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the appropriate traffic signs. Due to the nature of the event we cannot be sure of exact timings beforehand so all timings given are approximate.

The event will take place on Thursday 4th September 2025 between 11:30am and 2:30pm, however some road closures will be in effect as early as 5am and as late as 6pm.

The following full closures will be in effect at the following times;

•  A6, from the junction with Chapel End Road, Houghton Conquest to the junction with the A507, Clophill – 11am – 3pm

•  Woburn Street, Ampthill – From Parkside Community Hall to Clemens Place – 5:30am – 6pm

•  Woburn Road, Ampthill – From Parkside Community Hall to A507 – 12pm – 5pm

•  Woburn Street, Ampthill - From Clemens Place to Church Street/Dunstable Street – 12pm to 4pm

The following rolling road closures will be in effect while the event is passing:

•  Woburn Road, Aspley Heath

•  Bedford Road, Woburn

•  Park Street, Woburn

•  Newport Road, Woburn

•  Foxfield Eversholt

•  Hills End, Eversholt

•  Church End, Eversholt

•  Berry End, Eversholt

•  Dunstable Street, Ampthill – From Chandos Road to Church Street

Please note that access for residents on Ampthill Road, Hazelwood Lane and Bedford Street will be given during the closure but only travelling north and not towards Ampthill Town Centre. Approximate time between 2pm and 4pm.

The above temporary rolling closures are required to facilitate the holding of Tour of Britain Cycling Event and shall only apply whilst the event is passing along the identified route.

Due to the rolling nature of the closures, no formal diversion routes are available. Traffic will be held temporarily and released once the race has passed. Drivers should follow marshal instructions and expect some delays.

The proposed Order will come into operation on 4th September 2025 for a period of one day.
