TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDERS 2025 (NORWICH)
Road Traffic Regulation Act, 1984
Norfolk County Council in exercise of its powers under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, hereby give notice that:
i) THEY PROPOSE TO MAKE Temporary Traffic Regulation Orders in respect of the following roads:
ELM GROVE LANE – from its junction with Rectory Close for 150m eastwards to facilitate new electrical connection works from 18th to 22nd August 2025 (may continue until 3rd October 2025). Alternative route is via: Elm Grove Lane, Angel Road, Chamberlain Road, St Clements Hill and vice versa. The works promoter is UK Power Network.
GERTRUDE ROAD – from 180m east of its junction with Maltby Court for 42m eastwards to facilitate gas pipe repair works from 20th to 30th August 2025 (may continue until 11th October 2025). Alternative route is via: Gertrude Road, Lavengro Road, Mousehold Avenue, Silver Road, Sprowston Road. The works promoter is Cadent Gas.
PITT STREET CYCLEPATH – from its junction with A147 St Crispins Road to its junction with New Botolph Street to facilitate new electrical connection works from 18th to 20th August 2025 (may continue until 1st October 2025). Alternative route is via: Cyclists will be asked to dismount and use footway on opposite side of carriageway. The works promoter is UK Power Network.
ROSARY ROAD – from 60m northwest of its junction with Hill House Road for 30m north westwards to facilitate chamber adjustment and repair works from 20th to 22nd August 2025 (may continue until 3rd October 2025). Alternative route is via: Rosary Road, Thorpe Road, Carrow Road, Canary Way, Koblenz Avenue, Clarence Road. The works promoter is Anglian Water.
ST JOHN MADDERMARKET – from its junction with St Andrews Street to its junction with Lobster Lane to facilitate cabling works on 21st August 2025 (may continue until 2nd October 2025). Alternative route is via: St Andrews Street, Exchange Street, Lobster Lane. The works promoter is BT.
ii) THEY HAVE MADE Temporary Traffic Regulation Orders in respect of the following roads:
CARROW ROAD – from 25m northeast of its junction with King Street for 70m north eastwards to facilitate bridge repair works between 19:00 and 05:00 from 14th to 16th August 2025 (may continue until 27th September 2025). Alternative route is via: King Street, Rouen Road, Cattle Market Street, Ber Street, Finkelgate, Queens Road, Bracondale, King Street. The works promoter is Norfolk County Council.
GEORGE BORROW ROAD – from its junction with Hodgson Road for 70m northwards to facilitate Anglian Water repairs of a defective reinstatement between 07:00 on 11th to 17:00 on 12th August 2025 (may continue until 23rd September 2025). Alternative route is via: George Borrow Road, The Avenues, Colman Road, Earlham Road and vice versa. The works promoter is Anglian Water.
HARMER ROAD – from its junction with Mile Cross Lane for 20m southwards to facilitate UK Power Network installation of an electrical link box from 11th to 15th August 2025 (may continue until 26th September 2025). Alternative route is via: Harmer Road, Woodcock Road, Catton Grove Road, A1042 Mile Cross Lane. The works promoter is UK Power Network.
IPSWICH ROAD – from 3m south of its junction with Lakenham Road for 1330m southwards to facilitate surface works from 20th to 22nd August 2025 (may continue until 2nd October 2025). Alternative route is via: Hall Road, Lakenham Road and Hall Road, Lakenham Road, Ipswich Road and vice versa. The works promoter is Norfolk County Council.
NB: These works will be carried out in 2 phases. Phase 1 will be between 19:00 and 05:00 from 19th to 21st August. Phase 2 will be between 19:00 and 05:00 from 19th to 21st August.
MOUSEHOLD AVENUE – from its junction with Gurney Road to its junction with Lavengro Road to facilitate works to install a speed cushion between 07:30 and 16:00 on 11th August 2025 (may continue until 22nd September 2025). Alternative route is via: Eastbound – Mousehold Avenue, Silver Road, Barrack Street, Gurney Road. Westbound – Gurney Road, Barrack Street, Barrack Street St Crispins Road Roundabout, Barrack Street, Silver Road, and Mousehold Avenue. The works promoter is Norfolk County Council.
Unless otherwise stated, the effect of these Orders will be to prohibit the use by vehicles of the named road(s)/footpath(s). In the event of the start date being delayed the new start date will be displayed on site in advance. Where an Order is for a reason other than works it is because of the likelihood of danger to the public or serious damage to the road/footpath. Anticipated dates are listed but the Orders may continue until the end of a period of 18 months from the date Orders are revoked on the end date or on the actual date of removal of the prohibition/ restriction where earlier without further notice. If necessary, the restrictions can have a maximum duration of 18 months or 6 months in respect of footpaths, cycle paths, bridleways, restricted byways, and byways open to all traffic (BOAT).
Penalty: £1000 maximum fine on conviction and/or imprisonment for contravention.
