BRIGHTON & HOVE (NEWTOWN ROAD) (CLOSURE) ORDER 2025 (TRO-5B-2025)
NOTICE is hereby given that Brighton & Hove City Council (“the council”) has on 6 August 2025 made the Orders named above under the relevant sections of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended which when they come into operation on 1 September 2025 will introduce the following:
In Controlled Parking Zone T make changes to the waiting restrictions in Newtown Road and Fonthill Road to cover the altered kerblines as well as introducing a section of no loading/unloading at any time in Fonthill Road.
Will close Newtown Road to all vehicles except pedal cycles at its western junction with Fonthill Road.
HIGHWAYS ACT 1980
NOTICE is also given that the Council, pursuant to powers contained in Section 90A (1) of the Highways Act 1980 as amended, proposes to construct a raised table (maximum height 75mm) at the following location:
• Fonthill Road at its junction with Newtown Road for approximately 25 metres
• Newtown Road at its junction with Fonthill Road eastwards for approximately 14 metres
A copy of this Notice, the Orders as made and a statement of the Council’s reasons for making the Orders may be seen online at www.brighton-hove.gov.uk/current-tros.
Any person who wishes to question the validity of the Orders or of any of their provisions on the grounds that it or they are not within the powers conferred by the Act, or that any requirements of the Act or of any instrument made under it have not been complied with, may, within six weeks from the date on which the Orders were made, apply to the High Court for that purpose.
