Helena Terrace, Temporary Road Closure Due To Gas Works

What is happening?

The County Council of Durham (Helena Terrace, Bishop Auckland) (Temporary Road Closure) Order 2025

The Council proposes to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from proceeding on the following length of road. A 11-metre length of Helena Terrace, Bishop Auckland from the junction with Woodhouse Lane extending northwards to the side of Number 63 Woodhouse Lane to enable gas main replacement works to be undertaken.

Throughout the period of the closure, a diversion will be available to vehicular traffic via Arthur Terrace and Short Street.

The maximum duration of the Order is 18 months. The proposed works are to commence from 8am on Monday 18/8/2025 and are anticipated to be completed in 14 days. On occasions, alternative dates for the closure may be necessary and these will be signed on site accordingly.
