Wolsingham, Temporary Footpath Closure Due To Pipe Installation Works
What is happening?
The County Council of Durham (Public Footpath No. 126, Wolsingham Parish) (Temporary Footpath Closure) Order 2025
The Council proposes to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended, to prohibit all pedestrian traffic from proceeding on the following length of footpath. A 20 metre length of Footpath No. 126, Wolsingham Parish that extends north west from 105 metres west of the rail crossing south of Wolsingham to enable outfall pipe installation works to be undertaken.
An alternative route will be available to pedestrian traffic from the north western side of the closure from A689 Durham Road Wolsingham, heading east for around a kilometre and turning south onto public footpath number 127, leading to footpath number 126 to the south eastern side of the closure and vice versa.
The maximum duration of the Order is 6 months. The proposed works are to commence on Tuesday 26/8/2025 and are anticipated to be completed in 1 week. On occasions, alternative dates for the closure may be necessary and these will be signed on site accordingly.
