What is happening?
CITY OF BRISTOL
(SPRINGFIELD AVENUE, AVONMOUTH & LAWRENCE WESTON WARD, CITY OF BRISTOL) (SCHOOL STREET PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) (ONE WAY TRAFFIC) ORDER 202-
The City Council of Bristol hereby gives NOTICE that it proposes to make a traffic order, the effect of which would be:-
1. to prohibit any vehicle from entering or proceeding in the northern spur of Springfield Avenue leading to Shirehampton Primary School between the hours of 8.15 a.m. and 9.15 a.m. and the hours of 2.30 p.m. and 3.30 p.m. on Monday to Friday. The closures would operate during Shirehampton Primary School term days only; and
2. to introduce eastbound one way traffic in Springfield Avenue from
Portbury Grove to Burnham Road.
Exemption to the prohibition of entering or proceeding would be provided for pedal cycles, blue badge holders, for specified/statutory purposes and for permit holders. Permits would be available to eligible Springfield Avenue residents and their essential visitors, and where necessary access to Shirehampton Primary School is required. Exemption to the one way provisions would be provided for pedal cycles.

Further details of the proposals are contained in the draft order, which together with plans and a Statement of the Council’s Reasons for proposing to make the order may be inspected at the Citizen Service Point at 100 Temple Street, Bristol, BS1 6AG, between 10.00 a.m. and 4.00 p.m. on Monday to Friday. The draft order, plans and Statement of Reasons are also available to view on the Bristol City Council website at www.bristol.gov.uk/trafficorders.
How to object
Objections to the proposals, together with the grounds on which they are made, must be sent in writing to TRO Comments at the undermentioned address or by e-mail to tro.comments@bristol.gov.uk quoting reference CAE/RGW/P-1326 by 8th September 2025.
Please include your name and address and note that all representations received may be considered in public by the City Council and that the substance of any representation together with the name and address of the person making it could become available for public inspection.
