Essex, Multiple Roads, Temporary Closures Due To Various Works
What is happening?

An alternative route is available via
St Botolphs Circus Roundabout, Southway, Butt Road, Layer Road, High Road, Malting Green Road, Abberton Road, Layer Road, Mersea Road (with access only into Mersea Road).
St Botolphs Circus Roundabout, Southway, Southway Roundabout, Maldon Road, Drury Road and vice versa.
The Order came into effect on 7th August 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
(Military Road, Colchester) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Military Road, Colchester in the City of Colchester, from a point approximately 90m south east of its junction with Winnock Drive for a distance of approximately 35m in a south easterly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 18th August 2025 for 1 day, or where stated on a valid permit (AD03010726062 – Anglian Water). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while new connection works are undertaken by Anglian Water.
An alternative route is available via Magdalen Street, St Botolphs Circus, Mersea Road, Roberts Road and vice versa (with access only into Military Road).
The Order will come into effect on 31st July 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
(Morant Road, Colchester) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Morant Road, Colchester in the City of Colchester, from its junction with Kimberley Road for a distance of approximately 25m in a north westerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 20th August 2025 for 2 days, or where stated on a valid permit (BC411002FBDS7087 – Openreach). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while pole replacement works are undertaken by Openreach.
An alternative route is available via Morant Road, Wimpole Road, Harsnett Road, Kimberley Road and vice versa.
The Order came into effect on 31st July 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
(Nightingale Hill, Langham) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Nightingale Hill, Langham in the City of Colchester, from a point approximately 735m south west then south of its junction with Dedham Road for a distance of approximately 365m in a south easterly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 19th August 2025 for 1 day, or where stated on a valid permit (BC008WG7R0K2RPTSB01 – Openreach). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while pole testing works are undertaken by Openreach.
An alternative route is available via Grove Hill, Wick Road, Park Lane, Moor Road, Greyhound Hill, Dedham Road, Whalebone Corner, Rectory Road and vice versa.
The Order will come into effect on 31st July 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
(Station Road, Ardleigh) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Station Road, Ardleigh in the District of Tendring, from its junction with Harwich Road to its junction with Slough Lane a distance of approximately 980m. The closure is scheduled to commence on 18th August 2025 for 3 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EP201EH238296 – Essex County Council). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while carriageway patching works are undertaken by Essex County Council.
An alternative route is available via Slough Lane, Bromley Road, A137 and vice versa.
The Order came into effect on 31st July 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
