What is happening?

(Footpath 3, Layer De La Haye) (Temporary Prohibition of Use) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close Footpath 3, Layer De La Haye, in the Borough of Colchester, from its length from High Road to The Folley.

The closure is scheduled to commence on 11 August 2025 to 06 October 2025 or where appropriate signs are showing and weather permitting.

The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while resurfacing of the footpath is undertaken.

Alternative Route: The Folley, High Road and vice versa.

The Order will come into effect on 11 August 2025 and may continue in force for 6 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Footpath 64, Stanway) (Temporary Prohibition of Use) Order 2025

Further to notice: Under section 14(2) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended), which commenced on 23 July 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close Footpath 64, Stanway in the City of Colchester, from its junction with London Road to Footpath 25 to London Road.

The closure is scheduled to commence on 13 August 2025 to 13 February 2026, weather permitting. The closure is required for the safety of the public due to a dangerous pavement and footpath surface. The work to make it safe will be programmed in due course.

Alternative route: London Road, Footpath 25 and vice versa.

The Order will come into effect 13 August 2025 and may continue in force for 6 months, or until the footpath/revetment has been made safe, whichever is the earlier.

(Artillery Street, Colchester) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Artillery Street, Colchester in the City of Colchester, from its junction with Cannon Road to a distance of approximately 25m in a northerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 4th September 2025 for 1 day, or where stated on a valid permit (AD03166167270 – Anglian Water).

The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while pipe replacements are undertaken by Anglian Water.

An alternative route is available via Artillery Street, Victor Road, Barrack Street and vice versa (with access only into Artillery Street).

The Order will come into effect on 14th August 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Bakers Lane, West Bergholt) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Bakers Lane, West Bergholt in the City of Colchester, from a point approximately 280m south west of its junction with Heath Road for a distance of approximately 50m in a south westerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 4th September 2025 for 1 day, or where stated on a valid permit (BC008PT14881882302304 – Openreach). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while pole testing works are undertaken by Openreach.

An alternative route is available via Bakers Lane, B1508, Packards Lane, Fordham Road, Wormingford Road, Plummers Road, Malt Road, Church Road, Mill Lane, Fiddlers Hill, Spring Lane, Nayland Road, Halstead Road, Cymbeline Way, Spring Lane Roundabout, Spring Lane North, Bakers Lane.

(Brook Street, Colchester) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Brook Street, Colchester in the City of Colchester, from its junction with East Street for a distance of approximately 25m in a southerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 5th September 2025 for 1 day, or where stated on a valid permit (AD03766197556/SM – Anglian Water).

The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while replacement man hole cover and frame works are undertaken by Anglian Water.

An alternative route is available via Barrack Street, Hythe Hill, Maudlyn Road, Hythe Quay Roundabout, Hythe Quay, Haven Road Roundabout, Colne Causeway, Hawkins Road Roundabout, Eastern Approach, Clingoe Roundabout, Elmstead Road, Greenstead Roundabout, St Andrews Avenue, Harwich Road Roundabout and vice versa.

(with access only into Harwich Road and Brook Street).

The Order will come into effect on 14th August 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Chapel Road, Boxted) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Chapel Road, Boxted in the City of Colchester, from a point approximately 330m south east of its junction with Straight Road for a distance of approximately 215m in a north easterly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 1st September 2025 for 3 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EP0035900-2350 – Essex County Council). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while drainage connection works are undertaken by Essex County Council.

An alternative route is available via Chapel Road, Cage Lane, Boxted Straight Road, Straight Road, Chapel Road and vice versa.

The Order will come into effect on 14th August 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Heath Road, Fordham Heath) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Heath Road, Fordham Heath in the City of Colchester, from its junction with Wood Lane for a distance of approximately 30m in a southerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 1st September 2025 for 3 days, or where stated on a valid permit (AD03166159120 – Anglian Water).

The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while stop tap replacement works are undertaken by Anglian Water.

An alternative route is available via Wood Lane, Halstead Road, Spring Lane and vice versa.

The Order will come into effect on 14th August 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(London Road, Great Horkesley/Little Horkesley) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of London Road, Great Horkesley/ Little Horkesley in the City of Colchester, from its junction with Nayland Road to its junction with Maypole Road for a distance of approximately 3190m. The closure is scheduled to commence on 1st September 2025 for 9 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EP201EH2386400 – Essex County Council). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while drainage works are undertaken by Essex County Council.

An alternative route is available via Coach Road, Old House Road, The Causeway, Nayland Road, Erle Havard Road and vice versa.

The Order will come into effect on 14th August 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Mill Road, Colchester) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Mill Road, Colchester in the City of Colchester, from its junction with Nayland Road for a distance of approximately 70m in a south easterly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 8th September 2025 at 19:00 to 06:00hrs (overnight works) for 1 night/10 hours, or where stated on a valid permit (EP201EH2389420 – Essex County Council). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while carriageway patching works are undertaken by Essex County Council.

An alternative route is available via Mill Road, Debe Crescent, Nayland Road and vice versa.

The Order will come into effect on 14th August 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Plummers Road, Fordham) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Plummers Road, Fordham in the City of Colchester, from a point approximately 385m north east of its junction with the Chapel Road for a distance of approximately 50m in a north westerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 1st September 2025 for 2 days, or where stated on a valid permit (AD0375615903454 – Anglian Water). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while carriageway lining works are undertaken by Anglian Water.

An alternative route is available via Plummers Road, Wormingford Road, Fordham Road, B1508, Lexden Road, New Bridge Hill, Chitts Hill, Halstead Road, A1124, Eight Ash Green Roundabout, A1124, Wood Lane, Potters Cottage, Fiddlers Hill, Mill Road, Church Road, Road Hill, Plummers Road and vice versa.

The Order will come into effect on 14th August 2025, and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Barbrook Lane, Tiptree) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Barbrook Lane, Tiptree in the City of Colchester, from a point approximately 98m north west of the junction with Grove Road for a distance of approximately 20m in a north westerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 31st August 2025 for 3 days, or where stated on a valid permit (AD01310751932 – Anglian Water). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while new connection works are undertaken by Anglian Water.

An alternative route is available via Maypole Road, Church Road, Grove Road and vice versa (with access only into Barbrook Lane).

The Order came into effect on 31st July 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Boxted Road, Great Horkesley) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Boxted Road, Great Horkesley in the City of Colchester, from its junction with A134 (The Causeway) for a distance of approximately 200m in a south easterly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 18th August 2025 for 5 days, or where stated on a valid permit (AD03750882417/1 – Anglian Water). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while manhole maintenance works are undertaken by Anglian Water.

An alternative route is available via A134 (The Causeway), Ivy Lodge Road, Horkesley Road, Straight Road and vice versa.

The Order came into effect on 31st July 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Clingoe Hill, Colchester & (Boundary Road, Colchester) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order:

  1. To temporarily close that length of Clingoe Hill, Colchester in the City of Colchester, from its junction with Greenstead Roundabout to its junction with B1027 for a distance of approximately 1320m (Eastbound Only).

  2. To temporarily close that length of Boundary Road, Colchester in the City of Colchester, from its junction with B1027 to its junction with Greenstead Roundabout a distance of approximately 1320m (Westbound Only).

    The closures are scheduled to commence (one phase at a time) on 11th August 2025 – 15th August 2025 and again 18th August 2025 to 22nd August 2025 for 11 nights (19:00–05:00), or where stated on a valid permit (EP2010132977 & EP2018133007 – Essex County Council). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closures are required for the safety of the public and workforce while resurfacing of carriageway works are undertaken by Essex County Council.

    An alternative route is available via Greenstead Roundabout, A133, A1232, Crown Interchange Roundabout, A133, Colchester Road Roundabout, A133 and vice versa.

    The Order came into effect on 7th August 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Dedham Road, Langham) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Dedham Road, Langham in the City of Colchester, from a point approximately 200m north east of its junction with Low Lift Cottage Road for a distance of approximately 60m in a north easterly direction.

The closure is scheduled to commence on 18th August 2025 for 1 day, or where stated on a valid permit (BC008WD7KQ2RKPTSB – Openreach). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while overhead cabling works are undertaken by Openreach.

(Greenstead Road, Colchester) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Greenstead Road, Colchester in the City of Colchester, from its junction with Harwich Road to its junction with Kerry Court for a distance of approximately 110m. The closure is scheduled to commence on 20th August 2025 for 1 day, or where stated on a valid permit (BC008WD7KQ2RKH7SB – Openreach). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while cabling works are undertaken by Openreach.

(Greyhound Hill, Langham) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Greyhound Hill, Langham in the City of Colchester, from a point approximately 340m north east of its junction with School Road for a distance of approximately 30m in a northerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 19th August 2025 for 3 days, or where stated on a valid permit (AD03159919456 – Anglian Water). (Keelars Lane, Elmstead & Tye Lane, Elmstead Market) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order:

  1. To temporarily close that length of Keelars Lane, Elmstead in the City of Colchester, from its junction with Tye Lane for a distance of approximately 115m in a south westerly direction.

  2. To temporarily close that length of Tye Lane, Elmstead Market in the District of Tendring, from a point approximately 160m south of the junction with Brightlingsea Road for a distance of approximately 115m in a southerly then north easterly direction.

    The closures are scheduled to commence on 8th August 2025 for 3 days, or where stated on a valid permit (BC008W6P8HT8YS/BC008W6P8HT8Y5B – Openreach).

(Mersea Road, Abberton) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Mersea Road, Abberton in the City of Colchester, from its junction with Fingringhoe Road for a distance of approximately 240m north east. The closure is scheduled to commence on 21st August 2025 for 3 days, or where stated on a valid permit (AD03166197445 – Anglian Water). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while new supply connection works are undertaken by Anglian Water.
