Luton - Multiple Traffic Notices

THE BOROUGH OF LUTON
(VARIOUS ROADS)
(TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURES) (No.30) ORDER 2025

NOTICE is hereby given that Luton Borough Council, the Highway Authority for the said Borough, on 11th August 2025 made the above Order under the relevant provisions of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended).

The Order will come into operation on 14th August 2025 for a period of 18 months or when the proposed works have been completed, whichever is the earlier. Specific dates and times will be signed locally. The Order will therefore be in operation during such date and time and to such extent as indicated by traffic signs, barriers or cones.

The effect of the Order will allow the Council to close to vehicular traffic the following roads and lengths of roads:
Bradgers Hill Road from its junction with Old Bedford Road to a point outside no. 10. Diversion route via Fairford Avenue, Bushmead Road, Old Bedford Road. Anticipated date and times of closure 14th August 2025, 8am to 6pm.
Butely Road from a point outside no. 62 to a point outside no. 92. Diversion route via Butely Road, Needham Road, Hasketon Drive, Toddington Road, Montague Avenue, Acworth Crescent, The Green, Hockwell Ring, Ickley Close, Butely Road. Anticipated date and times of closure 18th August 2025, 8am to 6pm.
Chase Street from its junction with New Town Street to its junction with Baker Street. Diversion route via Albert Road, New Town Street. Alternatively, via New Town Street, Strathmore Avenue, Cowper Street. Anticipated date and times of closure 15th August 2025, 8am to 6pm.
Hill Rise from its junction with Pennine Avenue to its junction with Cranbrook Drive. Diversion route via Sundon Park Road, Bramingham Road, Wauluds Bank Drive, Spinney Road. Anticipated date and times of closure 11th August 2025, 8am to 6pm.
Manton Drive from its junction with Stockingstone Road to its junction with Priory Gardens. Diversion route via Manton Drive, Priory Gardens Old Bedford Road, Stockingstone Road. Alternatively, via Stockingstone Road, Stockingstone Road Roundabout, Stockingstone Road, Old Bedford Road, Bushmead Road, Marston Gardens Welbury Gardens, Manton Drive. Anticipated date and times of closure 13th August 2025, 8am to 6pm.
New Town Street from its junction with Albert Road to its junction with Cambridge Street. Diversion route via Albert Road, Surrey Street, Cambridge Street. Alternatively, via Albert Road, Cowper Street, Strathmore Avenue. Anticipated date and times of closure 16th August 2025, 8am to 6pm.
Studley Road from its junction with Biscot Road to its junction with New Bedford Road. Diversion route via Biscot Road, Lansdowne Road, New Bedford Road. Alternatively, via New Bedford Road, Hucklesby Way Roudabout, New Bedford Road, Cromwell Road, Biscot Road. Anticipated date and times of closure 19th August 2025, 8am to 6pm.
Warwick Road East from its junction with Ash Road to its junction with Ash Road. No diversion route available. Anticipated date and times of closure 21st August 2025, 8am to 6pm.
Whitehill Avenue from its junction with London Road to its junction with Old Orchard. Diversion route via London Road, Windsor Street, Farley Hill. Anticipated date and times of closure 26th August 2025.

The Order is intended to create a window for the works to be done and it is anticipated that the works will be completed over a period as described above. The purpose of the Order is to enable Volker Highways to carry out resurfacing/maintenance works to be carried out. For the period of the closure, the Order will also provide for “No Waiting and No Loading” restrictions to apply within the roads and lengths of roads closed for said works. Any vehicle deemed to be in contravention of the restrictions will be issued with a penalty charge notice and removed. This will be in force when traffic signs, barriers or cones are displayed. Access will be maintained as best as possible to properties where this may be done safely whilst such works are being carried out and diversions for traffic will be marked by signs.
