Essex - Temporary Road Closures due to Public Safety and Maintenance Works

What is happening?

(Footpath 23, Gestingthorpe)

(Temporary Prohibition of Use) Order 2025

Further to notice: Under section 14(2) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended), which commenced on 24 July 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close Footpath 23, Gestingthorpe in the District of Braintree, 3 metres either side of the footbridge (including footbridge) for approximately 10 metres.

This will be closed by 1 x 21-day notice and then extended by the 6 month Order.

The closure is scheduled to commence on 14 August 2025 to 14 February 2026 weather permitting, or where appropriate signs are showing and is required for the safety of the public due to a dangerous footbridge. The work to make it safe will be programmed in September 2025.

No alternative route provided.

The Order will come into effect 14 August 2025 and may continue in force for 6 months, or until the Footbridge has been made replaced, whichever is the earlier

(Graves Hall Road, Sible Hedingham/ Castle Hedingham)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Graves Hall Road, Sible Hedingham/Castle Hedingham in the District of Braintree, from its junction with Crouch Green to its junction with Devlin End a distance of approximately 1380m. The closure is scheduled to commence on 4th September 2025 for 5 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EP201EH2383814 - Essex County Council). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while carriageway patching and ditch clearance works are undertaken by Essex County Council.

An alternative route is available via Yeldham Road, Devlin End and vice versa.

The Order will come into effect on 14th August 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
