ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 (as Amended) – SECTION 14(1)

THE COUNCIL OF THE BOROUGH OF ST. HELENS (SOMERSET STREET, ST HELENS)

(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) ORDER 2025

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the St. Helens Borough Council propose not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an order under the provisions of Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as Amended), the effect of which will be that no person shall cause or permit any vehicle to proceed in either direction along Somerset Street, as and when directed by road traffic signs on-site.

The Order will come into force on Monday 26?? August, 2025, and will have a maximum duration of eighteen months, but will terminate on completion of the works. The alternative route will be via Surrey Street, Gloucester Street, Smithfield Street and vice versa.

The reason for making this Order is to facilitate the construction of new dwellings.
