What is happening?

THE COUNTY COUNCIL OF DURHAM

(MUSGRAVE GARDENS ESTATE, GILESGATE)

(20 MPH SPEED ZONE) ORDER 2025

The Council proposes to make an Order under Sections 81, 82, 84 & 87 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which is to introduce: 20mph ZONE on the following lengths of road including all side and back lanes on the Musgrave Garden Estate, Durham.

Full Length of Road:- Annand Road, Bradford Crescent, Bradford Crescent North, Churchill Square, Cooper Square, Cunningham Place, Gort Place, Hartley Gardens, Montgomery Road, Roosevelt Road and Whitwell Court.

Part Lengths of road:-

Churchill Avenue, from a point 14.3 metres north of its junction with Unc Sunderland Road in a northerly direction to its junction with Roosevelt and Montgomery Road.

Churchill Avenue East, From a point 33.54 metres east of its junction with Churchill Avenue, in a westerly direction to its junction with Churchill Avenue.

Donnini Place, From a point 6.8 metres south-west of its junction with Montgomery Road, in an easterly direction to its junction with Montgomery Road.

Kiepier Crescent, From a point 3.62 metres north east of its junction with Musgrave Gardens, in a south westerly direction to its junctions with Musgrave Gardens.

Musgrave Gardens, From a point 21.25 metres north of its western junction with unc Sunderland Road for its entire remaining length (including all internal loops and connecting sections) to a point 15.9 north west of its eastern junction with unc Sunderland Road.

Pilgrims Way, From a point 21.18 metres north of its junction with Bradford Crescent adjoining the existing 20mph zone restriction, in a southerly direction to its junction with Bradford Crescent.

School View, From a point 14.24 metres north of its junction with Musgrave Gardens and the existing 20mph Zone Restrictions on School View, in a southerly direction to its junction with Musgrave Gardens.

Westerdale Avenue, From a point 6.2 metres west of its junction with Churchill Avenue, in a easterly direction to its junction with Churchill Avenue.

THE COUNTY COUNCIL OF DURHAM

PROPOSED CONSTRUCTION OF ROAD CUSHIONS

(MUSGRAVE GARDENS ESTATE, GILESGATE)

In accordance with Section 90C of the Highways Act 1980, Durham County Council, in exercise of their powers under Section 90G of the Highways Act 1980, propose to construct road speed cushions complying with the Highways (Road Humps) Regulations 1999 on the following roads on the Musgrave Gardens Estate.

Churchill Avenue

  1. adjacent to Numbers 3 and 4

  2. adjacent to Numbers 17 and 22

  3. adjacent to Number 27.

Musgrave Gardens

4. adjacent to numbers 56 and 61

5. adjacent to numbers 16, 32, 6

6. adjacent to numbers 22 and 23

7. adjacent to numbers 13 and 73

8. adjacent to number 84 Musgrave Gardens and number 6 Kepier Crescent

9. adjacent to number 9 Musgrave Gardens and number 16 Kepier Crescent

10. Adjacent to number 2 Musgrave Gardens and 57 Kepier Crescent.

Annand Road

11. adjacent to numbers 51 and 66

12. Adjacent to numbers 35 and 48

13. Adjacent to numbers 11 & 12.

Bradford Crescent

14. adjacent to numbers 120 and 135

15. adjacent to numbers 108, 110, 117 and 119

16. adjacent to numbers 90 and 99

17. adjacent to numbers 76 and 79

18. adjacent to numbers 49 and 50

19. adjacent to numbers 26 and 31

Churchill Square

20. adjacent to numbers 9 and 10

Roosevelt Road

21. adjacent to numbers 17, 34 and 36

22. adjacent to numbers 1 and 24

Cunningham Place

23. adjacent to number 12

Montgomery Road

24. adjacent to number 11

25. adjacent to numbers 2, 4 and 23

26. adjacent to numbers 16, 37 and 39.

Please refer to the plan attached to this notice for location, dimensions, layout and construction details of the road speed cushions. A copy of the draft Order and Speed Humps and Cushions Notice and supporting information may be inspected at Durham Library and via the council website.
