What is happening?

THE NOTTINGHAMSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL
(BARNBY ROAD AND BOWBRIDGE ROAD, NEWARK) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF PROCEEDING) ORDER 2025 (N25-246)

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Nottinghamshire County Council has made an Order, under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, in respect of roads at Newark in the District of Newark and Sherwood.

The effects of the Order will be:
1. Vehicles are prohibited from proceeding in the following length of road
a. Barnby Road, Newark - From its junction with John Gold Avenue, Newark to its junction with Barnby Road, Balderton
b. Bowbridge Road, Newark - From its junction with Boundary Road to its junction with Earp Avenue

2. Vehicles are prohibited from Waiting, Loading or Unloading (both sides) (at all times) in the following length of road
a. Barnby Road, Newark - From its junction with John Gold Avenue, Newark to its junction with Barnby Road, Balderton
b. Bowbridge Road, Newark - From its junction with Boundary Road to its junction with Earp Avenue

3. All existing permanent restrictions will be temporarily suspended as required.

4. The restrictions specified above shall only be in effect when the signs are in place.

IT IS INTENDED that the prohibitions respecting the above road or roads will apply as follows:

Barnby Road, Newark - 08:00 hours until 18:00 hours only from Monday 18th August until Friday 22nd August 2025 inclusive.

Bowbridge Road, Newark - 20:00 hours until 06:00 hours only from Wednesday 13th August until Friday 15th August 2025 inclusive.

AND NOTICE IS HEREBY FURTHER GIVEN that during the period of restriction the alternative route available will be:

Barnby Road, Newark - Barnby Gate - Sherwood Avenue - London Road - Main Street and vice versa Bowbridge Road, Newark - London Road - Albert Street - Boundary Road and vice versa

The Order will come into force on 13th August 2025 and any prohibition in it shall apply on that day and any subsequent day when necessary to enable works to be carried out. The Order shall continue in force until the works are completed (within a maximum period of 18 months).
