What is happening?

Portsmouth City Council (Colwell Road) (Temporary Road Closure) (Temporary Prohibition of Loading and Waiting) (No.139) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that Portsmouth City Council intends to make the above Order under Section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended by the Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991.
The Order comes into operation from 26th August 2025 and the effect will be as follows:
A) TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE AND PROHIBITION OF LOADING AND WAITING
FRESHWATER ROAD
From its junction with Colwell Road for 20 metres.
TOTLAND ROAD

From its junction with Colwell Road for 20 metres.
B) TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF LOADING AND WAITING
Colwell ROAD

From outside No. 38 to its junction with Freshwater Road (on both sides).
C) REASON FOR THE ORDER
To facilitate Openreach works.
D) DURATION OF THE ORDER
From 26th August 2025 to 8th September 2025 or completion of the works, whichever is sooner. Notwithstanding the above, works will take place in sections as notified by signage and letters to residents in advance of works taking place.
E) DIVERSION
Vehicles will be diverted from Freshwater Road, Gurnard Road, Totland Road and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained around the works.
Cycles to follow vehicle diversion or dismount and follow pedestrian diversion around the works.
