TRAFFIC CALMING NOTICE - PROPOSED CONSTRUCTION
OF SPEED CUSHIONS AT LINCOLN AVENUE,
CUMBERLAND ROAD GREENWOOD ROAD, SUNDERLAND

Notice is hereby given that the Council of the City of Sunderland in exercise of its powers under Section 90A of the Highways Act 1980 and after consultation in accordance with Section 90C of the Highways Act 1980 proposes to construct speed cushions complying with the Highways (Road Humps) Regulations 1999 as traffic calming measures to reduce vehicle speeds along Lincoln Avenue, Cumberland Road and Vicarage Road, Sunderland. The current speed limit on the above length of road is 20mph. The road humps are in the form of two speed cushions which are raised sections of the carriageway designed to control vehicle speeds.
The locations, nature and dimensions of the proposed Speed Cushions are as follows: Dimensions: The speed cushions will have the following dimensions: Overall Width: 1700mm; Length: 3000mm; On/off Gradient: 1:8; Plateau Length: 1800mm; Plateau Width: 1100 mm; Max Height: 75mm.
Locations: Lincoln Avenue, from the centre of the carriageway, at a point 1.9 metres south-west of the extended party property boundary of 3 & 4 Lincoln Avenue; Lincoln Avenue, from the centre of the carriageway, at a point 2.9 metres north-east of the extended party property boundary of 9 & 10 Lincoln Avenue; Lincoln Avenue, from the centre of the carriageway, at a point 5.9 metres north-east of the extended party property boundary of 15 & 16 Lincoln Avenue; Cumberland Road, from the centre of the carriageway, at a point 3.5 metres north-east of the extended party property boundary of 9 & 11 Cumberland Road; Cumberland Road, from the centre of the carriageway, at a point 5.8 metres south-west of the extended party property boundary of 22 & 24 Cumberland Road; Vicarage Road, from the centre of the carriageway, at a point 2.9 metres south of the extended party property boundary of 10 & 12 Vicarage Road; Vicarage Road, from the centre of the carriageway, at a point 2.3 metres south of the extended party property boundary of 30 & 32 Vicarage Road; Vicarage Road, from the centre of the carriageway, at a point 1.2 metres south of the extended party property boundary of 49 & 51 Vicarage Road; Vicarage Road, from the centre of the carriageway, at a point 0.9 metres north of the extended party property boundary of 61 & 63 Vicarage Road; and Vicarage Road, from the centre of the carriageway, at a point 5.7 metres south of the extended party property boundary of 73 & 75 Vicarage Road.
The plans and a statement of reasons for the above proposed road humps may be inspected during normal opening hours at City Hall, Plater Way, Sunderland SR1 3AA, until the end of the consultation period. An electronic copy of the documents can also be obtained by emailing: statutoryorders
