Canterbury, Multiple Temporary Traffic Regulation Notices

What is happening?

Kent County Council, acting in exercise of its powers under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984,  makes or intends to make the following Orders.

CANTERBURY AREA

A291 Canterbury Road, Herne, CT6 7GQ (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER SEPTEMBER 2025

To allow bridge works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of A291 Canterbury Road, Herne, from 1st September 2025, with estimated completion by 6th September 2025, between the hours of 20:00 and 06:00, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed in the vicinity of the bridge, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic travelling in a northerly direction is via A299 Thanet Way Westbound On Slip, A299 Thanet Way, A299 Thanet Way Westbound Slip Onto Wraik Hill Roundabout, A290 Clapham Hill, A2990 Thanet Way, A299 Thanet Way Eastbound On Slip, A299 Thanet Way, A299 Thanet Way Westbound Off Slip Onto A291 Canterbury Road.

The alternative route for any through traffic travelling in a southerly direction is via A291 Canterbury Road, A299 Thanet Way Eastbound On Slip, A299 Thanet Way, A299 Thanet Way Eastbound Off Slip Onto Margate Road Interchange, Margate Road, A299 Thanet Way.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

Beaumont Street, Herne Bay, CT6 8NB (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER AUGUST 2025

To allow utility works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Beaumont Street, Herne Bay from 18th August 2025, with estimated completion by 24th August 2025, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed outside number 1, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via B2205 Sea Street, Claremont Street, Clarendon Street and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

Forty Acres Road, Canterbury, CT2 7EQ (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER SEPTEMBER 2025

To allow utility works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Forty Acres Road, Canterbury, from 1st September 2025, with estimated completion by 3rd September 2025, between the hours of 19:00 and 06:00, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed outside number 27, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Forty Acres Road, A290 Whitstable Road, A290 St Dunstans Street, B2248 Station Road West, St Stephen’s Road, St Stephen’s Hill, Beaconsfield Road and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

Grove Ferry Hill, Upstreet. (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER SEPTEMBER 2025

To allow level crossing works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Grove Ferry Hill, Upstreet, from 6th September 2025, with estimated completion by 8th September 2025, between the hours of 22:00 and 07:00 only, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed in phases, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site:

At the junction with Island Road, in the vicinity of Becketts Wood and a final closure point at the Grove Ferry Road approach to the level crossing.

The alternative route for any through traffic (excluding vehicles over 7.5 tonne) is via Grove Ferry Road, Grove Road, Stourmouth Road, Preston Road, The Street, Plucks Gutter, Gore Street, A253 Ramsgate Road, A28 Canterbury Road, Island Road, Grove Ferry Hill and vice versa.

The alternative route for vehicles over 7.5 tonne is via Grove Ferry Road, Grove Road, The Street, Preston Lane, Preston Road, Preston Hill, A257 Goberry Hill, Roman Road, Pedding Hill, Ash Bypass, Sandwich Road, Each End, A256 Sandwich Bypass, Ramsgate Road, Richborough Way, A299 Hengist Way, Canterbury Road West, A253 Canterbury Road and A28 Canterbury Road, Island Road and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

Island Wall, Whitstable, CT5 1DZ (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER AUGUST 2025

To allow drainage repair works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Island Wall, Whitstable, from 18th August 2025, with estimated completion by 20th August 2025, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed outside number 89, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

There is no alternative route for this closure, however, residential and emergency access will be maintained at all times when it is safe to do so.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

Margate Road, Herne & Bogshole Lane, Herne Bay. (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER SEPTEMBER 2025

To allow gas mains replacement works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic in phases on part of Margate Road, Herne & Bogshole Lane, Herne Bay.

Margate Road will be closed from 1st September 2025, with estimated completion by 7th November 2025, between the junction with Bogshole Lane and number 1752 Margate Road, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for through traffic is via Margate Road, Margate Road Interchange, Margate Road, Mickleburgh Hill, Reculver Road, Sweechbridge Road, Heart In Hand Road and vice versa.

Bogshole Lane will be closed from 27th October 2025, with estimated completion by 5th December 2025, in its entirety, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

There is no alternative route for this closure, however, residential and emergency access will be maintained at all times when it is safe to do so.

 

Maypole Road, Hoath, CT3 4LL (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER AUGUST 2025

To allow new water connection works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Maypole Road, Hoath, from 20th August 2025, with estimated completion by 22nd August 2025, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed adjacent to Chapel House, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Maypole Road, Ford Hill, Highstead, Boyden Gate Hill, Church Lane, Sandpit Hill, Nethergong Hill, The Glen, A28 Island Road, Staines Hill, Babs Oak Hill, Hoath Road and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

Neville Road, Herne Bay, CT6 6TB (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER SEPTEMBER 2025

To allow new connection works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Neville Road, Herne Bay, from 3rd September 2025, with estimated completion by 5th September 2025, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed between numbers 13 and 15, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Neville Road, Barnes Way, Reculver Road, Sweechbridge Road and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

Redhouse Lane, Petham, CT4 5QN (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER AUGUST 2025

To allow pole testing works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Redhouse Lane, Petham, from 19th August 2025, for up to one day, between the hours of 09:30 and 15:30, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed from the junction with Chartham Downs Road, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Redhouse Lane, Chartham Downs Road, B2068 Street End and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

Renville Farm Road, Bridge, CT4 5AA (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER SEPTEMBER 2025

To allow drainage repair works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on Renville Farm Road, Bridge, from 1st September 2025, with estimated completion by 2nd September 2025, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed in its entirety, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

There is no alternative route for this closure, however, residential and emergency access will be maintained at all times when it is safe to do so.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

Stodmarsh Road, Canterbury & Littlebourne. (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER AUGUST 2025

To allow connection works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Stodmarsh Road, Canterbury & Littlebourne, from 19th August 2025, with estimated completion by 22nd August 2025, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed in the vicinity of Redwalls, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic under 6’ 6” wide is via Stodmarsh Road, A257 Littlebourne Road, St Martin’s Hill, Longport, Lower Chantry Lane, St George’s Place, A28 Lower Bridge Street, Broad Street, Military Road, Tourtel Road, Sturry Road, Mill Road, Water Lane, Fordwich Road, King Street, High Street, Moat Lane and vice versa.

Due to the width restriction on Fordwich Road, the alternative route for through traffic wider than 6’6” is via A257 Littlebourne Road, Canterbury Road, The Hill, Jubilee Road, Court Hill, Eldridge Hill, Stodmarsh Road and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

Stodmarsh Road, Wickhambreaux, CT3 4BB (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER SEPTEMBER 2025

To allow drainage repair works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on Stodmarsh Road, Wickhambreaux, from 1st September 2025, for up to one day, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed in its entirety, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Burnt House Hill, Hollybush Lane, Stodmarsh Road and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

The List, Wickhambreaux, CT3 1RX (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER AUGUST 2025

To allow water pipe repair works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of The List, Wickhambreaux, from 21st August 2025, with estimated completion by 28th August 2025, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed in its entirety, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via The Street, Wickham Court Lane, Grove Road and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

Wife Of Bath Hill, Canterbury, CT2 8PG (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER AUGUST 2025

To allow drainage repair works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Wife Of Bath Hill, Canterbury from 18th August 2025, with estimated completion by 22nd August 2025, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed at the junction with Priest Avenue, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Priest Avenue, Wife Of Bath Hill and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
