Public Footpath No 8, Moretonhampstead - Temporary restrictions during the week to enable forestry operations

What is happening?

THE DARTMOOR NATIONAL PARK AUTHORITY

(Public Footpath No 8 (Moretonhampstead) Temporary prohibition of Through Traffic Order 2025
Dartmoor National Park Authority intends to make an order under section 22BB (2) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and the National Park Authorities’ Traffic Orders (Procedure) (England) Regulations 2007, to prohibit through traffic on Public Footpath 8 (Moretonhampstead) from Ordnance Survey Grid Reference SX 745 896 to SX 754 897.

This restriction is necessary to enable forestry operations. The footpath will remain open at weekends and will be in operation only when appropriate warning signs are displayed.

If made, the order will come into force on 1st October 2025 for 6 months, or on completion of the works, whichever is sooner.
The proposed order has been placed on the Authority’s website at https://www.dartmoor.gov.uk/enjoy-dartmoor/outdoor-activities/walking/where-you-can-walk and may also be seen free of charge at the office of Dartmoor National Park Authority, Parke, Bovey Tracey, Newton Abbot, Devon, TQ13 9JQ from 9am to 4pm Monday to Friday.
Any representations about or objections to the order should be sent in writing to the Head of Recreation, Access & Estates, Dartmoor National Park Authority, Parke, Bovey Tracey, Newton Abbot, Devon, TQ13 9JQ to arrive no later than Friday 5th September 2025. All representations objecting to the making of the order must specify the grounds on which they are made.
