What is happening?
CITY OF BRISTOL
(GUINEA STREET, REDCLIFF, BRISTOL) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF USE BY VEHICLES) ORDER 2025
NOTICE is hereby given that the City Council of Bristol in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended intend to make an Order the effect of which will be to close, temporarily, to vehicles that length of Guinea Street which extends from Redcliff Hill westwards for 75 metres.
The Order is required because works are being or are proposed to be executed on or near the road and will be operative from 1st September 2025 for a maximum period of eighteen months. However, the closure may not be implemented for the whole of the period, but only as necessitated by the works (which are anticipated to take place between 1st September 2025 and 30th September 2025).
ALTERNATIVE ROUTES:
Eastbound: Guinea Street (part unaffected), Alfred Place, Jubilee Place, Redcliffe Parade East, Redcliff Hill, Redcliffe Way Roundabout, Redcliff Hill, Bedminster Bridge Roundabout, Redcliff Hill
Westbound: Redcliff Hill, Redcliffe Parade East, Jubilee Place, Alfred Place, Guinea Street (part unaffected)
(PREWETT STREET AND SHIP LANE, REDCLIFF, BRISTOL) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF USE BY VEHICLES) ORDER 2025
NOTICE is hereby given that the City Council of Bristol in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended intend to make an Order the effect of which will be to close, temporarily, to vehicles the lengths of roads specified in Schedule 1 to this Notice.
The Order is required because works are being or are proposed to be executed on or near the roads and will be operative from 1st September 2025 for a maximum period of eighteen months. However, the closures may not be implemented for the whole of the period, but only as necessitated by the works (which are anticipated to take place between 1st September 2025 and 30th September 2025).

1. Prewett Street (eastbound only)
– from Redcliff Hill eastwards for 44 metres
2. Ship Lane – from Prewett Street northwards for 3 metres
SCHEDULE 2 – ALTERNATIVE ROUTES
1. Redcliff Hill, Bedminster Bridge Roundabout, Clarence Road, Somerset Street, Prewett Street (part unaffected)
2. Unnamed road between Ship Lane and Prewett Street, Prewett Street (part unaffected) and vice versa
(REDCLIFF HILL UNDERPASS, REDCLIFF, BRISTOL) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF USE BY FOOT PASSENGERS AND PEDAL CYCLES) ORDER 2025
NOTICE is hereby given that the City Council of Bristol in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended intend to make an Order the effect of which will be to close, temporarily, to pedestrians and pedal cycles the entire length of Redcliff Hill Underpass, including its steps and approach paths, which extends:-
(a) from a point 3 metres north of the northernmost kerb line of Guinea Street generally northwards for 40 metres;
(b) from a point 10 metres north of the northernmost kerb line of Guinea Street eastwards for 40 metres; and
(c) from a point 10 metres south of the southernmost kerb line of Prewett Street generally northwards for 49 metres.
The Order is required because works are being or are proposed to be executed on or near the footpath and will be operative from 25th August 2025 for a maximum period of six months (subject to necessary extension).
