THE HAMPSHIRE (MEETING HOUSE LANE, RINGWOOD) (ONE-WAY TRAFFIC) ORDER 2025

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Hampshire County Council made the above-mentioned Order on Tuesday 29th July 2025, in exercise of its powers and duties under sections 1, 2, 4, 5, 122(1) and 122(2) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 ("the Act"); Part IV of Schedule 9 to the Act, and of all other enabling powers, after consultation with the Chief Officer of Police in accordance with Part III of Schedule 9 of the Act, and having discharged its duty under section 122 of the Act.

GENERAL NATURE AND EFFECTS OF THE ORDER: Will be to make permanent the experimental reversal of one-way traffic on Meeting House Lane in Ringwood which ran for a period of 18 months from Monday 19th February 2024 until Tuesday 19th August 2025. This had the effect of reversing the existing one-way restriction on Meeting House Lane from its then-current direction of south-west to north-east and changed it to north-east to south-west.

DATE OF OPERATION: The order will come into force on Saturday 16th August

(i) Ringwood Library, Christchurch Road, Ringwood, BH24 1DW (Opening hours: Tuesday - Thursday: 09.30 - 17.00; Saturday: 09.30 - 13.30)

(ii) New Forest District Council, Appletree Court, Beaulieu Road, Lyndhurst, SO43 7PA (Opening hours: Monday - Thursday: 08.45 - 17.15; Friday: 08.45 - 16.45)

(iii) Hampshire County Council Headquarters, The Castle, Winchester, SO23 8UJ (Opening hours : Mondays to Thursdays 8.30 - 5.15; Fridays 8.30 - 4.45)

(iv) Copies of the order as made, plan and statement of reasons can also be obtained by e-mailing public.notices@hants.gov.uk or by writing to Traffic Orders Team, Safer Roads and Parking, Universal Services, 2nd Floor, Elizabeth II Court West, The Castle, Winchester SO23 8UD quoting reference: A2042/MJB

APPLICATION TO THE HIGH COURT: Any person desiring to question the validity of the Order or of any of its provisions on the grounds that it is not within the relevant powers of the Act, or that any of the relevant requirements of the Act or of any relevant instrument made thereunder has not been complied with in relation to the Order may, by Friday 19th September 2025 make application for the purpose to the High Court.
