M62 Motorway - Temporary Prohibition of Traffic For Improvement Works
What is happening?
ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 - SECTION 14
THE M62 MOTORWAY (JUNCTION 6 WESTBOUND EXIT SLIP ROAD) AND M57 MOTORWAY (JUNCTION 1 SOUTHBOUND EXIT SLIP ROAD)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2025
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that National Highways Limited (Company No. 09346363) intends to make an Order on the M62 and M57 Motorways, in the Borough of Knowsley, in the County of Merseyside, to enable improvement works at Tarbock Island to be carried out in safety
The Order will:
i. ban all traffic from the M62 westbound exit slip road at J6;
ii. ban all traffic from the M57 southbound exit slip road at J1.
Prohibitions i. and ii. are expected to be in place during a continuous period starting at 00:01 on Thursday 3 September 2025 and ending at 23:59 on Friday 1 May 2026.
However, works may start and continue during subsequent continuous periods, until completed. Diversion routes via alternative junctions of the M62 and M57 Motorways and local roads will be well signed.
The prohibitions will not apply to emergency services, works, or traffic officer vehicles, and will only apply during such times and to such extent as shall, from time to time, be indicated by traffic signs. The Order comes into force on 2 September 2025 and has a maximum duration of eighteen months.
