ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 - SECTION 14(1) & SECTION 22C

(QUEEN ELIZABETH OLYMPIC PARK AREA E20, E15, E9, E3) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER, 2025

  1. The NEWHAM LONDON BOROUGH COUNCIL, at the recommendation of the Commissioner of the Metropolis, and in discussion with the London Legacy Development Corporation, Transport for London, the London Borough of Tower Hamlets, and the London Borough of Hackney, hereby gives notice that it made an Order, the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park Area E20, E15, E9 and E3 (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025, the general effect will be to close the roads when necessary in the attached Schedule1 to all traffic including both vehicular and pedestrian traffic, to mitigate a potential danger or damage connected with terrorism.

  2. The Order is made to protect the safety of the public, and to reduce any likelihood of danger. The Order applies from Wednesday 6th August 2025 to Thursday 21st January 2027.

  3. Vehicular and Pedestrian access will be prohibited when the appropriate traffic signs are displayed in accordance with the Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2016, or at the discretion of a Constable or Authorised Officer.

  4. Pedestrian traffic shall not enter, leave or remain in the roads in Schedule 1 when so directed, at the discretion of a Constable, or an Authorised Officer.

  5. Nothing in the Order shall apply to vehicles necessarily used in connection with a related event if so authorised.

  6. Nothing in the Order shall apply to vehicles being used for Fire, Ambulance or Police purposes, or with the permission or at the direction of a Police Constable or an Authorised Officer.
