(VARIATION No.17) ORDER 2025

2. (WANTAGE) (TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT) (AMENDMENT) ORDER 2025

NOTICE is given that on 4 August 2025 Oxfordshire County Council made the above orders under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and all other enabling powers.

The effect of the orders, which came into force on 12 August 2025 is to implement the prohibition of driving and waiting under the measures previously introduced by the Oxfordshire County Council (Wantage) Market Place Area (Prohibition of Driving and Waiting Experimental) Order 2021, brought in to enable a safer safe use of outdoor spaces near local retail premises.

Driving into/through the closed areas (Prohibition of Motor Vehicles) is not permitted within the following sections of road:

a) the western section of Market Place,

b) the southern section of Alfred Street and

c) the northern section of Church Street.

The restrictions also in place accordingly. Exemptions remain for emergency service vehicles, statutory services, essential access to premises, and for emergency services.

The following ‘permitted’ areas removed during the Experimental Order has been removed permanently:-

a) The 30-minute time limited parking places (Mon-Sat 8am-6pm) removed on the west side of Alfred Street (approx. 3 spaces), and the south side of Market Square (approx.1 spaces).

b) the Motorcycle parking places removed from the west side of Alfred Street.

c) the two existing Disabled Persons Parking Places on the south side of Market Square are permanently relocated further westwards, with the current bus bay shortened marginally to accommodate.

The Oxfordshire County Council (Wantage) (Traffic Regulation) Order 1994, and the Oxfordshire County Council (Various Roads – Vale of White Horse District (Excluding the Parish of North Hinksey) (Map Based) (Prohibition and Restriction of Waiting and Permitted Parking) Order 2021 are further amended as necessary – (updated Map Tile: HA43 in the plans).

If you wish to question the validity of either Order of of any provision contained in them on the grounds that it is not within the powers conferred by the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, or on the grounds that any requirement of this Act or of any instrument made under it has not been complied with in relation to this Order, you may within six weeks from 4 August 2025 apply to the High Court for this purpose. Notice of Temporary Traffic Order

Didcot Bridleway No.423/1/20 Closure

Date of Order: 18 August 2025

Coming into force: 28 August 2025

This Order is being introduced because of road construction works which are anticipated to be completed on 29 February 2026.

The effect of the Order is to close temporarily Bridleway 423/1/20 from Cow Lane down from the A4130 to the A34.

Exemptions are included for emergency services and for the works and for pedestrian access to property which is only accessible from the closed section of bridleway.

Appropriate traffic signs will be displayed to indicate when the measures are in force. The alternative route for those affected by the closure is via Cow Lane and to the east of the closed bridleway.

This Order will remain in force for a maximum period of 6 months or until the works have been completed whichever is the sooner. (Ref: T16109/RAG)

Ardington, Unnamed Road off High Street

Prohibition of Through Traffic

Date of Order: 18/8/2025

Coming into force: 27/8/2025

This Order is being introduced because of excavation for fibre cabling works which are anticipated to take until 4/9/2025 to complete.

The effect of the Order is to temporarily prohibit any vehicle proceeding in part of the road running south-eastwards off High Street towards Ginge’s Works and appropriate traffic signs will be displayed to indicate when the measures are in force.

Exemptions are included for emergency services and for access to premises which are only accessible from the closed section of road.

This Order will remain in force for a maximum period of 18 months or until the works have been completed whichever is the sooner. (Ref: T16110/RMF)

Notice of Temporary Footpath Closure

Didcot, Footpath Cromwell Drive

Date of Order: 21 August 2025

Coming-into-force: 25 August 2025

This Order is being introduced because of LV electrical works (previously planned for 28/07/2025 to 08/08/2025).

The effect of the Order is to close temporarily the footpath between Nos.24-28 & 25-27 Cromwell Drive from 25 August 2025 for 2 weeks.

Exemptions are included for emergency services and for the Works. Appropriate signs will be displayed to indicate when the measures are in force.

The Order will remain in force for 6 months or until the works are complete whichever is the sooner. (Ref: T15968/MR)

Notice of Temporary Traffic Order

South Stoke, The Street

Prohibition of Through Traffic

Date of Order: 4 August 2025

Coming into force: 7 August 2025

This Order is being introduced because of excavations for the fibre cabling work which is anticipated to take 1 week to complete.

The effect of the Order is to temporarily prohibit vehicles proceeding in that section of The Street between Savenake Court & Ferry Road. Appropriate traffic signs will be displayed to indicate when the measures are in force.

Exemptions are included for emergency services and for the works and for access to premises which are only accessible from the closed section of road.

Traffic will be diverted via South Bank – B4009 – Ferry Road and vice versa.

This Order will remain in force for a maximum period of 18 months or until the works have been completed whichever is the sooner. (Ref: T15635/MR)

Notice of Temporary Traffic Order

Great Milton, Church Road

Prohibition of Through Traffic

Date of Order: 7 August 2025

Coming into force: 7 August 2025

This Order is being introduced because of trenching for a new LV main cable works which are anticipated to take 2 weeks to complete.

The effect of the Order is to temporarily prohibit vehicles proceeding in the section of Church Road between The Old Vicarage and Brookbank.

Appropriate traffic signs will be displayed to indicate when the measures are in force.

Exemptions are included for emergency services and only access to premises and access to premises which are only accessible from the closed section of road.

Traffic will be diverted via Church Road down to the A329 – turn left onto Thame Road – Church Road – The Green and vice versa.

This Order will remain in force for a maximum period of 18 months or until the works have been completed whichever is the sooner. (Ref: T15202/MR)

Ipsden, Unnamed Road Hurley

Prohibition of Through Traffic

Date of Order: 18 August 2025

Coming into force: 26 August 2025

This Order is being introduced because of excavation for fibre cabling works which are anticipated to take 10 days to complete.

The effect of the Order is to temporarily prohibit any vehicle proceeding in the section of unnamed road east-west through Hurley.

Appropriate traffic signs will be displayed to indicate when the measures are in force.

Exemptions are included for emergency services and for the works and access to premises which are only accessible from the closed section of road.

This Order will remain in force for a maximum period of 18 months or until the works have been completed whichever is the sooner. (Ref: T15220/MR)

Wallingford, Wantage Road & Station Road

Prohibition of Waiting

Date of Order: 18 August 2025

Coming into force: 26 August 2025

This Order is being introduced because of drainage, kerb and footway repair works which are anticipated to take 3 weeks to complete.

The effect of the Order is to temporarily prohibit vehicles waiting between 7am and 7pm in Wantage Road & Station Road from Calvin Thomas Way Roundabout until just after Charter Way junction.

Appropriate traffic signs will be displayed to indicate when the measures are in force.

Exemptions are included for emergency services and for the works and for access to premises in the section of road.

This Order will remain in force for a maximum period of 18 months or until the works have been completed whichever is the sooner. (Ref: T16102/MR)

Cumnor/North Hinksey, B4044 Eynsham Road

Temporary Prohibition of Waiting and No Parking

Date of Order: 4 August 2025

Coming into force: 11 August 2025

This Order is being introduced because of drainage works, kerb and footway repairs which are anticipated to be completed 1 September 2025. Works will operate between 07:00 and 19:00hrs.

The effect of the Order is to temporarily prohibit waiting in the whole length of B4044 Eynsham Road, from junction with Cumnor Hill to junction with Nobles Lane.

Appropriate traffic signs will be displayed to indicate when the prohibition is in force.

Exemptions are included for emergency services and for the works.

This Order will remain in force for a maximum period of 18 months or until the works have been completed whichever is the sooner. (Ref: T16080/AC)

Notice of Temporary Traffic Order

Benson, Crown Lane

Prohibition of Through Traffic

Date of Order: 25 August 2025

Coming into force: 25 August 2025

This Order is being introduced because of installation of a new main sewer pipe which is anticipated to be completed 18 December 2025. This is a 24 hour road closure.

The effect of the Order is to temporarily prohibit vehicles proceeding in the whole length of Crown Lane, from a full closure from the junction of High street/Brook Street towards junction of Watlington Road in multiple phases of closure moving northwards.

Appropriate traffic signs will be displayed to indicate when the measures are in force.

Watlington Road & the junction with Crown Lane will be narrowed with traffic signal working at the final stage.

Exemptions are included for emergency services and for the works and for access to premises which are only accessible from the closed section of road.

The alternative route for traffic affected by the closure is via Crown Square, Old London Road, St Helens Avenue, Church Road, High Street, Watlington Rd and vice versa.

This Order will remain in force for a maximum period of 18 months or until the works have been completed whichever is the sooner. (Ref: T15940/AC)

Notice of Temporary Traffic Order

Cumnor/North Hinksey, B4044 Eynsham Road

Temporary Prohibition of Driving and Waiting and No Parking

Date of Order: 4 August 2025

Coming into force: 11 August 2025

This Order is being introduced because of continuous road improvements in the whole length of the B4044 Eynsham Road from its junction with Cumnor Hill to its junction with Nobles Lane, as follows:

  1. Drainage works, kerb and footway repairs – which are anticipated to be completed 1 September 2025. Works will operate between 07:00 and 19:00hrs. The Order is to temporarily prohibit waiting in the whole length of the road.

  2. followed on 1 September by resurfacing of the whole road which is anticipated to be completed 13 September. Works will operate between 20:00 and 06:00hrs. The Order is to temporarily prohibit driving in the whole length of the road.

    The alternative route for traffic affected by the closure is via the B4017, Oxford Road, Cumnor Hill, B4044 and vice versa.

    Appropriate traffic signs will be displayed to indicate when the prohibitions are in force.

    Exemptions are included for emergency services and for the works and access.

    This Order will remain in force for a maximum period of 18 months or until the works have been completed whichever is the sooner. (Ref: T16079/AC)

West Hendred, Ginge Road

Prohibition of Through Traffic

Date of Order: 4 August 2025

Coming into force: 11 August 2025

This Order is being introduced because of excavation for fibre cabling works which are anticipated to be completed 27 August 2025. This is a 24 hour road closure.

The effect of the Order is to temporarily prohibit any vehicle proceeding in the section of Church Road between The Vicarage and Brookbank.

Appropriate traffic signs will be displayed to indicate when the measures are in force.

Exemptions are included for emergency services and for the works and for access to premises which are only accessible from the closed section of road.

The alternative route for traffic is signed locally.

This Order will remain in force for a maximum period of 18 months or until the works have been completed whichever is the sooner. (Ref: T15947/AC)

Notice of Temporary Traffic Order

Ardington, Wall Street

Prohibition of Through Traffic

Date of Order: 25 August 2025

Coming into force: 6 September 2025

This Order is introduced because of excavation for fibre cabling on behalf of Gigaclear works which are anticipated to be completed 15 September 2025. This is a 24 hour closure.

The effect of the Order is to temporarily prohibit any vehicle proceeding in the section of Wall Street from outside the War Memorial to the junction with Sheephouse Farm.

Appropriate traffic signs will be displayed to indicate when the measures are in force.

Exemptions are included for emergency services and for the works and for access to premises which are only accessible from the closed section of road. The alternative route for traffic will be signed locally.

This Order will remain in force for a maximum period of 18 months or until the works have been completed whichever is the sooner. (Ref: T16116/AC)

Notice of Temporary Traffic Order

Grove, Monks Farm Development, FP523/3/50, 235/3/40, 235/1/110

Date of Order: 29 January 2024

Came into force: 5 February 2024

This Order was introduced in respect of Monks Farm Development which is a long term project.

The effect of the Order is to close temporarily part or whole sections of Footpath Nos. 235/3/50, 235/3/40, 235/1/110 and Bridleway 110/6 to allow for construction of spine road and drainage & brook.

Exemptions are included for emergency services, for works and for pedestrian access to premises which are only accessible from the closed sections of the Public Right of Way.

The alternative route is signed locally around the east side.

Appropriate signs will be displayed to indicate when the measures are in force.

The Secretary of State for Transport has approved a 12 month extension.

The Order will now continue in force until 4 August 2026 or until the works are complete whichever is the sooner. (Ref: T15924/AC)
