Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2025
On 6 July 2025 Surrey County Council made the above mentioned Temporary Traffic Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended) the effect of which will be to:- (a) prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in the lengths of roads as specified in the Schedule to this Notice; (b) prohibit vehicles proceeding on A217 Brighton Road, Burgh Heath/Banstead from entering D1013 Brighton Road Service Road Between Burgh Road and Tattenham Way, Banstead, on reaching the gap in the verge dividing the northbound carriageway and the service road, situated at or adjacent to No.110; (c) prohibit vehicles proceeding southbound on A217 Brighton Road, Burgh Heath/Banstead from entering the northbound A217 Brighton Road, Burgh Heath/ Banstead, on reaching the gap in the central reservation opposite the junction of Wood Lane. This Order is required to enable Surrey County Council to facilitate major maintenance works, which is anticipated to be completed as soon as possible within the 18 month period of operation of this Order which will commence on 11 August 2025. Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the temporary closure will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. In the event that it is necessary to restrict any access at any time under Section 3 of the Act, the road can only be closed for a maximum of 8 hours in any 24-hour period. Any vehicle found to be obstructing the highway during these works will be removed to a suitable location outside the limits of the works after all reasonable methods have been undertaken to identify and contact the vehicle’s owner. Access to premises within the affected length of road, including access for emergency service vehicles to these properties, will be maintained when safe to do so and if necessary via the signed diversion route. Access for pedestrians and cyclists will be maintained at all times.

1. that length of A217 Brighton Road (northbound carriageway), Burgh Heath/Banstead which extends from a point 100m south of its junction with B2221 Tattenham Way to a point 70m north of its junction with B2221 Tattenham Way; Alternative Route 1 – A217 Brighton Road (northbound), A240 Reigate Road, A2022 Fir Tree Road and A217 Brighton Road (southbound); Alternative Route 2 – A217 Brighton Road (southbound), A240 Reigate Road and B2221 Tattenham Way;
2. the entire length of D1013 Brighton Road Service Road from Tattenham Way to 1 Ruffetts Way, Burgh Heath. There is no diversion route possible however access will be maintained to properties.
