Stoke-on-trent - Prohibition of Motor Vehicles

What is happening?

CITY OF STOKE-ON-TRENT (SANDON PRIMARY - SCHOOL STREETS SCHEME) (ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION) (NO.5) EXPERIMENTAL ORDER, 2025 

Notice is hereby given that Stoke on Trent City Council ("the Council"), under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended), has made the following Experimental Traffic Regulation Order ("the Order"), which will come into effect on 3rd September 2025. 

The effect of this Order will be to prohibit the driving of a motor vehicle at the following points on the following lengths of road :- 

FIRST SCHEDULE MOTOR VEHICLES PROHIBITED MON-FRI 8.15AM-9.15AM AND 2.45PM-3.45PM EXCEPT AUTHORISED VEHICLES 

Harrowby Road(i)At its junction with Anson Road (southern junction) for vehicles travelling in a north easterly direction. Harrowby Road (ii)From its junction with Anson Road (Northern junction) for vehicles travelling in a southerly junction.

These provisions will be operational from 3rd September 2025 for an eighteen-month period.

The reason for proceeding by way of an Experimental Traffic Order is to assess the effects of the proposals has on vehicular/pedestrian traffic for a trial period of 18 months before considering whether these provisions of the Experimental Traffic Order should be made permanent.

A copy of the Experimental Traffic Order, a plan showing the location of these measures, a statement of the reasons for having made the Experimental Traffic Order may be inspected at https://stoke.traffweb. app and by accessing the Public Consultation Section and searching under School Streets, where you will be able to leave any comments within a six months period from; a) the coming into operation of this Experimental Traffic Order or b) If the Order is varied by another Order or modified pursuant to Section 10(2) of the 1984 Act, beginning with the day on which the variation or modification or the latest variation or modification came into force.

Any person may make comments or object to the making of this Order of such indefinite continuation. 

Any objection should be made in writing, giving the grounds on which, the objection is made and be addressed to Dave Follows, Directorate of Housing, Regeneration & Operations, Civic Centre, Glebe Street, Stoke, ST4 1HH. (Quoting Reference - DF/TM/ETRO/5/2025).

Any comments in support of the Experimental Traffic Order are also invited during this period.
