Walkington Road - Temporary Prohibition Of Through Traffic For Proactive Cleaning Of The Sewage Pumping Station

What is happening?

THE EAST RIDING OF YORKSHIRE COUNCIL
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2025
WALKINGTON ROAD, LITTLE WEIGHTON (PART)

East Riding of Yorkshire Council has made an Order the effect of which is to prohibit any person from causing any vehicle to proceed along Walkington Road, Little Weighton (between numbers 18 and 20). The reason for the closure is to enable the proposed proactive cleaning of the sewage pumping station to prevent internal sewage issues and a potential pollution event, to be carried out and completed in a manner consistent with ensuring the safety of the public. It is anticipated that the works will be completed within the given time. The alternative route for traffc affected by the Order is via Walkington Road, Bluestone Bottoms, Common Road, White Gap Road and Old Village Road.

The road will be closed to all through traffc but remain open at all times to pedestrians and for vehicular access to properties directly affected by the closure and for emergency services. The Order will commence Tuesday 19 August 2025 (between 09.30 hours and 15.30 hours) and continue in force for a period not exceeding eighteen months or until the works which it is proposed to carry out have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
