York, Multiple Roads, Temporary Traffic Restrictions Due Various Works

What is happening?

TEMPORARY TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS

Notice is hereby given that City of York Council (the Council), in exercise of powers under Sections 14(1) & 15(8) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (the Act), made an order on Thursday, 07 August 2025 in respect of the locations numbered (1), (2), (3) & (4). Furthermore, the Council, not less than 7 days from the publication of this Notice, intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Act in respect of the locations numbered, (5), (6), (7) & (8).

(1) NORTH LANE & CHASE SIDE COURT, DRINGHOUSES, YORK

This Order prohibits vehicles from proceeding, parking or waiting in those lengths of road on North Lane & Chase Side Court, Dringhouses, York (i) on North Lane between its junction with Railway View and the projected north-western boundary of property no. 1 and (ii) on the whole length of Chase Side Court from its junction with North Lane onwards (closed roads) during the period when gas mains works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0700hrs on Monday, 11 August 2025 and ending at 1700hrs on Friday, 22 August 2025 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. It is envisaged that the road will only be closed between 0700hrs and 1700hrs each day of the works period. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Jervis Road, Thanet Road, Railway View. Access will be maintained for residents and emergency vehicles.

(2) TRENTHOLME DRIVE & ST AUBYNS PLACE, YORK

This Order prohibits vehicles from proceeding and waiting in those lengths of road on Trenth­olme Drive & St Aubyns Place, York (i) on the whole length of Trenth­olme Drive between its junction with Mount Vale onwards and (ii) on the whole length of St Aubyns Place from its junction with Mount Vale onwards (closed roads) during the period when water mains works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0800hrs on Monday, 11 August 2025 and ending at 1800hrs on Friday, 12 September 2025 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. Access will be maintained for residents and emergency vehicles throughout the works period.

(3) WATER END, YORK

This Order prohibits vehicles & pedestrians from proceeding and waiting in that length of cycleway & footway on the south-eastern side of Water End, York between its junction with Boroughbridge Road and a location 300 metres north-east of said junction (closed footway / cycleway) during the period when bridge works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0800hrs on Monday, 11 August 2025 and ending at 1800hrs on Sunday, 07 September 2025 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route will be signed during the works period.

(4) WATER END & BOROUGHBRIDGE ROAD (CONTINUATION), YORK

This Order continues in force the York (Water End & Boroughbridge Road) (Temporary Traffic Restriction) Order 2025 (original Order). The effect of which is to continue the prohibition on vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Water End & Boroughbridge Road, York (i) on Water End between its junction with Boroughbridge Road and a location 388 metres north-east of said junction and (ii) on Boroughbridge Road between its junction with Lavender Grove and the projected south-eastern boundary of property no. 7 (closed road) during the period commencing at 0601 hours on Friday, 22 August 2025 and ending at 0600hrs on Friday, 03 October 2025 (works period) or on a date when abnormal load works being undertaken thereon have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. It is envisaged that the road will only be closed for a maximum of 15 minutes each night of the works period between 0500hrs and 0600hrs. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will not be signed during the works period.

(5) BOOTHAM LEVEL CROSSING, YORK

This Order will prohibit vehicles & pedestrians from proceeding through the Bootham Level Crossing on Wigginton Road, York (closed road) during the period when railway maintenance works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 2355hrs on Monday, 18 August 2025 and ending at 0510hrs on Wednesday, 20 August 2025 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. It is envisaged that the road will only be closed between 2355hrs and 0510hrs each day of the works period. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Wigginton Road, A1237, Haxby Road, Link Road.

(6) BROAD HIGHWAY, WHELDRAKE

This Order will prohibit vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Broad Highway, Wheldrake between locations 99 metres and 2.66 km north-west of the projected centreline of Braithegayte (closed road) during the period when highway maintenance works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 1900hrs on Monday, 18 August 2025 and ending at 0200hrs on Friday, 22 August 2025 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. It is envisaged that the road will only be closed between 1900hrs and 0200hrs each night of the works period. No alternative route will be signed during the works period.

(7) CROCKEY HILL ROAD, WHELDRAKE

This Order prohibits vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Crockey Hill Road, Wheldrake between its junctions with Benjy Lane and Millfield Lane (closed road) during the period when culvert maintenance works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0930hrs on Monday, 11 August 2025 and ending at 1530hrs on Friday, 22 August 2025 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. It is envisaged that the road will only be closed between 0930hrs and 1530hrs each day of the works period. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Benjy Lane, Skipwith Road, A19, Wheldrake Lane and vice versa.

(8) TAMWORTH ROAD, YORK

This Order will prohibit vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Tamworth Road, York between its roundabout controlled junction with Water Lane and a location 20 metres south-east of said junction (closed road) during the period when sewer maintenance works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0900hrs on Thursday, 21 August 2025 and ending at 1430hrs on Thursday, 21 August 2025 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Arlington Road, Water Lane.

The above temporary Orders will not prohibit works or emergency access nor will they prohibit access to premises provided that access is not prevented by on-going works or safety concerns. Traffic signs/barriers will indicate the extent of the prohibitions/restrictions.
