Tangier Road - Proposed Parking And Waiting Restrictions

What is happening?

PROPOSED PARKING AND WAITING RESTRICTIONS, TANGIER ROAD


1. Notice is hereby given that the Portsmouth City Council proposes to make the following Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984: The Portsmouth City Council (Tangier Road) (Parking Places and Waiting Restrictions) Order 2025. The effect of the Order would be:
a. To introduce "No Waiting at Any Time" restrictions on Tangier Road at the following locations:
i. North side, connecting existing waiting restrictions at Great Salterns car park access
ii. North side, from Children's home, in a westerly direction for 118 metres
iii. North side, connecting existing waiting restrictions outside garden of Children's Home
iv. North side, east of existing bus stop outside Portsmouth College, in an easterly direction for 32 metres
v. South side, from No.261 in an easterly direction for 125 metres
b. To introduce "no waiting 8am-4pm, Monday to Friday" restrictions on Tangier Road at the following locations:
i. North side, east of access road to Children's Home to existing bus stop
ii. South side, east of Sword Sands Path in an easterly direction to existing bus stop
c. To introduce time limited parking places for 4 hours no return within 4 hours, 8am-6pm, Monday to Sunday on Tangier Road at the following locations:
i. North side from 20 metres east of Great Salterns car park entrance, in an easterly direction for 63 metres
ii. South side, west of Sword Sands Bowling Green car park for 28 metres (partially replacing existing "no waiting at any time" restrictions)
2. Copies of the draft Order, Statement of Reasons and Map are available to view on Portsmouth City Council’s website: Search 'Traffic Regulation Orders 2025" at

www.portsmouth.gov.uk.

Alternatively, they can be viewed at the Civic Offices, Guildhall Square, PO1 2AL, Monday to Friday between 9am - 4pm. Printed copies can be obtained by calling 023 9260 6480.
3. Persons wishing to object to or make other representations with regard to these proposals must do so in writing, stating the grounds on which they are made. Representations must be sent to

or by post to TRO team, Portsmouth City Council, Civic Offices, Portsmouth PO1 2NE, quoting ref P017-25 within 21 days of the date of this Notice (i.e. by 29 August 2025).
