What is happening?

West Sussex County Council

(Worthing: Central Avenue and Shepherds Mead)

(Temporary Traffic Regulation) Order 2025 NOTICE is hereby given that not less than 7 days from the date of this notice, WSCC intends to make an Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to temporarily restriction the use of Shepherds Mead and Central Avenue in Worthing as follows:

To temporarily close the northern arm of the junction of Central Avenue with Long Meadow to southbound traffic; and

To temporarily close Shepherds Mead from between the northern and southern arms of its junction with Central Avenue.

These restrictions are needed while a temporary compound for local gas main replacement works is in place.

The Order will come into effect on 26 August 2025 and remain in force until 5 May 2026. Once made, the Order may remain in force for up to 18 months, or until the proposed works are completed, whichever is earlier.

During the operative periods of this Order alternative routes for vehicles will be indicated on site. Access to properties on the affected length of road will be maintained at all times.

(Ferring: Public Footpath 2113) (Temporary Closure) Order 2025

NOTICE is hereby given that WSCC has made an Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to temporarily close Public Footpath 2113 in Ferring from its junction with Langbury Lane southwards to its junction with Onslow Drive.

The closure of this route is needed due to the pedestrian crossing over the railway line being unsafe.

The Order continues the effect of a previous emergency closure notice and will come into effect on 13 August 2025. Once made, the Order is expected to remain in force for 6 months, after which an extension may be necessary.

((Worthing) (Parking Places & Traffic Regulation)

(Consolidation) Order 2007)

(Various Roads: Controlled Parking Zone Amendment) Order 2025

NOTICE is hereby given that WSCC proposes to make a permanent

Traffic regulation Order under the provisions of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to make amendments to parking restrictions in the Controlled Parking Zone in Worthing as follows:

To change the restriction on loading bays in Ann Street and Liverpool Road to allow their use by any type of vehicle; and

To install new parking bays for Disabled Persons’ Blue Badge holders in Cranworth Road, Liverpool Road, Orme Road, Rowlands Road, St Georges Road, Warwick Gardens, and to remove bays which are no longer required in Dawes Avenue, Southcourt Road and Tarring Road; and

To amend restrictions to allow permit holders to park in Pay & Display bays on Christchurch Road, Marine Parade, Shelley Road and Wyke Avenue; and

To install new waiting restrictions on: Bank Passage, Liverpool Road, Marine Parade and South Farm Road.

The Order also installs a new Pay & Display parking bay on Augusta Place, reduces a short length of double yellow line on Ham Road, removes a single yellow line on Station Road and adds Fairlawn Drive to Zone N of the Controlled Parking Zone, with a restriction requiring permits for parking between 10am and 11am and 2pm to 3pm Mon-Sat except bank holidays.
