Wymondham - 20 mph Speed Limit Zone Consolidation and Variation

What is happening?

THE NORFOLK COUNTY COUNCIL

(WYMONDHAM, VARIOUS ROADS)

(WHISPERING OAKS ESTATE)

(20 MPH SPEED LIMIT ZONE) CONSOLIDATION AND VARIATION ORDER 2025

Norfolk County Council has made the above-named Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 on the 28th July 2025 which comes into operation on the 4th August 2025. The effect of this Order is to:

  1. consolidate The Norfolk County Council (Wymondham, Various Roads) (20 m.p.h. Speed Limit Zone) Order 2013 and The Norfolk County Council (Wymondham, Various Roads) (20 m.p.h. Speed Limit Zone) Order 2016, whereby the 20 mph speed limit zone on the existing lengths of road specified in that Order has not changed (apart from the U7P806 Lavender Road which is extended as per the length below) and;

  2. vary the previous Orders by prohibiting any motor vehicle from exceeding 20 miles per hour along the following lengths of road:

    i) U7P809 Duffin Drive – From its junction with the U71694/U7P806 Lavender Road westwards for its entire length including the turning head

    ii) U71694/U7P806 Lavender Road – From its junction with the U71693 Greenland Avenue north-westwards, westwards and northwards to its junction with the U7P808 Rugby Road, including the turning head (this an extension of 208 metres from the existing stretch of the U79806 Lavendar Road)

    iii) U7P808 Rugby Way – From its junction with the U7P807 Twickenham Avenue for its entire length including turning heads

    iv) U7P807 Twickenham Avenue – From its junction with the U71694/U7P806 Lavender Road northwards for its entire length including turning heads

    Orders have been consolidated for clarity and efficient administration of the restrictions and the following roads have remained the same as they were previously in force but are being described with reference to different landmarks on the roads for clarity: U71696 Clematis Way, U71737 Daisy Street, U71693 Greenland Avenue, U71719 Honeysuckle Square, U71740 Laburnum Close and U71739 Pelargonium Road.

    As part of the consolidation the existing 20 mph Zone Orders has been updated to reflect current legislation, or has been clarified to make them clearer, or has been amended to correct minor errors. The reference of ‘vehicles’ has been updated to ‘motor vehicles’ to reflect current legislation.

Copies are also available for inspection at Norfolk County Council, County Hall, Norwich, NR1 2DH and at the offices of South Norfolk District Council, The Horizon Centre, Peachman Way, Broadland Business Park, Norwich, NR7 0WF during normal office hours. Online viewing is recommended.
