TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDERS 2025
Road Traffic Regulation Act, 1984
Norfolk County Council in exercise of its powers under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, hereby give notice that:
i) THEY PROPOSE TO MAKE Temporary Traffic Regulation Orders in respect of the following roads:
GREAT ELLINGHAM – B1077 Watton Road from its junction with U33137 Anchor Corner for 230m eastwards to facilitate carriageway repair works from 4th to 8th August 2025 (may continue until 19th September 2025). Alternative route is via: B1077 Watton Road, C136 Hingham Road/Attleborough Road, B1108 Church Street/Watton Road/Norwich Road, B1077 Caston Road/Carbrooke Road/Caston Road/Brayes Lane, B1077 Attleborough Road and vice versa (Carbrooke, Hingham, Scoulton, Great Ellingham, Caston, Rocklands, Stow Bedon, Breckles). The works promoter is Norfolk County Council.
GREAT MOULTON – C509 High Green for 10m either side of the level crossing to facilitate rail maintenance works between 23:00 on 2nd August and 09:00 on 3rd August 2025 (may continue until 14th September 2025). Alternative route is via: High Green, Frith Way, Frosts Lane, Carr Lane, Woodrow Lane (Great Moulton, Aslacton). The works promoter is Network Rail Infrastructure Ltd.
LONG STRATTON – A140 Ipswich Road from 100m south of its junction with Parkers Lane for 500m northwards to facilitate construction works as part of the Long Stratton Bypass Scheme from 4th to 25th August 2025 (may continue until 25th February 2026). Alternative route is via: A140 Long Stratton Bypass. The works promoter is Norfolk County Council.
LYNG –
C198 The Street from its junction with U35063 The Street for 154m westwards and;
C198 The Common from its junction with U31084 Wensum Road for 228m westwards and;
U35062 Elsing Road from its junction with C198 Heath Road for 490m westwards to facilitate works for a new fibre network from 4th to 15th August 2025 (may continue until 26th September 2025). Alternative route is via: C198 The Common, 35062 Elsing Road/Fustyweed/Mill Street, C212 Mill Street/Elsing Lane, A1067 Fakenham Road/Main Road, C198 Lyng Road and vice versa (Bawdeswell, Sparham, Bylaugh, Lyng, Elsing). The works promoter is CityFibre Metro Networks.
OVINGTON AND WATTON – A1075 Dereham Road from 284m southwest of its junction with C134 Church Road to 257m southwest of its junction with 3P24 Loch Lane to facilitate replacement of rubber on cat eyes between 20:00 and 05:00 from 8th to 10th August 2025 (may continue until 21st September 2025). Alternative route is via: B1135 Dereham Road/The Lings/Low Street/Norwich Road/Dereham Road, B1108 Station Road/Hingham Road/Norwich Road/Norwich Street/The Fairland/Church Street/Watton Road/Norwich Road, A1075 Cadman Way/Watton Road/High Street/Church Close/Chapel Street/Market Street/Shipdham Road/Tavern Lane/Yaxham Road, B1135 Yaxham Road/Norwich Road and vice versa (Kimberley, Shipdham, Garvestone, Whinburgh and Westfield, Yaxham, Dereham, Deopham, Carbrooke, Hingham, Scoulton, Watton, Saham Toney, Ovington, Hardingham). PULHAM MARKET – C465 Station Road from 240m south of its junction with U76211 Guildhall Lane for 50m southwards to facilitate remedial works from 4th to 6th August 2025 (may continue until 17th September 2025). Alternative route is via: Station Road, Semere Lane, A140 Ipswich Road, Tivetshall Road, Tattlepot Road, Bank Street, The Green (Pulham Market, Dickleburgh and Rushall, Tivetshall). The works promoter is Anglian Water.
ROYDON (DISS) – C880 Old High Road from 20m east of its junction with A1066 High Road for 60m eastwards to facilitate plane and surface scheme works from 4th to 5th August 2025 (may continue until 16th September 2025). Alternative route is via: A1066 High Road, A1066 Stanley Road, B1077 Denmark Street, Roydon Road, Old High Road, Access to be given to Manor Road up to the points of closure via Brewers Green (Roydon, Diss). The works promoter is Norfolk County Council.
SCOULTON – U33021 Back Lane from its junction with B1108 Norwich Road for 146m eastwards to facilitate new entrance works from 4th to 8th August 2025 (may continue until 19th September 2025). Alternative route is via: B1108 Norwich Road, U33021 Back Lane and vice versa. The works promoter is Witherford Surfacing.
STOW BEDON AND BRECKLES – B111 Watton Road from its junction with A1075 Breckles to its junction with C138 Watton Road to facilitate stud replacement scheme from 5th to 7th August 2025 (may continue until 18th September 2025). Alternative route is via: A1075 Breckles/Wretham Road/Great Hockham Road/Hockham Road/Watton Road/Thetford Road, A11 J A1075 Roundabout, A1075 Norwich Road, A1066 Hurth Way/Thetford Road/Diss Road (Riddlesworth, Croxton, Hockham, Wretham, Bridgham, Garboldisham, Kilverstone, Brettenham, Thetford, Harling, Roudham and Larling, Stow Bedon and Breckles). The works promoter is Norfolk County Council.
SWANTON MORLEY & BYLAUGH –
C217 Mill Street from its junction with C888 Mill Street for 20m northwards and;
C888 Mill Street from its junction with C217 Mill Street for 200m eastwards and;
C888 Dereham Road from 130m southwest of its junction with C216 Bylaugh Road for 54m south-westwards to facilitate bridge surfacing works between 07:00 and 17:00 on 4th August 2025 (may continue until 15th September 2025).
Alternative route is via:

2, 3) C888 Dereham Road, A1067 Fakenham Road, B1145 Billingford Road/Bawdeswell Road/The Street/Elmham Road/Station Road/Back Lane, B1110 Dereham Road/Holt Road, B1146 Holt Road/Quebec Road, C553 Wellington Road/Neatherd Road, U30113 Kings Road, C214 Swanton Road, C888 Dereham Road/Greengate/Gooseberry Hill/Town Street/Mill Street and vice versa (Swanton Morley, Bawdeswell, Billingford, North Elmham, Bylaugh, Beetley, Dereham, Foxley, Swanton Morley, Hoe and Worthing). SWANTON MORLEY – C888 Mill Road/Dereham Road from its junction with C217 Rectory Road to its junction with C216 Bylaugh Road to facilitate stud removal and white lining and stud installation works from 7th to 27th August 2025 (may continue until 8th October 2025). Alternative route is via: C888 Dereham Road, A1067 Fakenham Road, B1145 Billingford Road/Bawdeswell Road/The Street/Elmham Road/Station Road/Back Lane, B1110 Dereham Road/Holt Road, B1146 Holt Road/Quebec Road, C553 Wellington Road/Neatherd Road, U30113 Kings Road, C214 Swanton Road, C888 Dereham Road/Greengate/Gooseberry Hill/Town Street/Mill Street and vice versa (Bawdeswell, Billingford, North Elmham, Bylaugh, Beetley, Dereham, Foxley, Swanton Morley, Hoe and Worthing). NB: These works will be carried out in 2 phases. Phase 1 will be between 19:00 and 05:00 from 7th to 12th August. Phase 2 will be between 19:00 and 05:00 from 22nd to 27th August.
THARSTON AND HAPTON –
U76028 Church Road from its junction with U76124 Brands Lane for 500m northwards and;
U76124 Hall Lane from its junction with U76029 Church Road for 500m southwards to facilitate Long Stratton bypass works. Traffic over the road 1) shall be temporarily subject to a one-way system (northbound) to allow vehicles to travel only in a northerly direction and traffic over the road 2) shall be temporarily subject to a one-way system (southbound) to allow vehicles to travel only in a southerly direction from 8th to 18th August 2025 only whilst signs indicating restrictions are in place (may continue until 29th September 2025). Alternative route is via: N/A. The works promoter is Norfolk County Council.
NB: Please note the restrictions will be in place on weekends only and are expected during 8th to 11th August (there are contingency dates of 15th to 18th August 2025).
THARSTON AND HAPTON – U76028 Parkes Lane/Picton Road/Church Road/U76124 Hall Lane from its junction with C497 Bungay Road to its junction with C345 Forncett Road to facilitate safety reasons in connection with works for Long Stratton Bypass. The Road will be subject to the temporary imposition of a 7.5-tonne weight restriction from 8th to 18th August 2025 (may continue until 29th September 2025). Alternative route is via: A140, A47, A146, A143. The works promoter is Norfolk County Council.
TITTLESHALL – C123 Fakenham Road from its junction with U35111 High Street for 70m northwards to facilitate overhead poles and lines replacement works between 08:00 and 18:00 on 4th August 2025 (may continue until 15th September 2025). Alternative route is via: C123 Fakenham Road, A1065 Gravelpit Hill/Swaffham Road/Fakenham Road/Castleacre Road, B1145 Lynn Road/Lexham Road/Back Street, C123 Tittleshall Road/Litcham Road and vice versa (Colkirk, Hempton, Raynham, Litcham, Lexham, Weasenham St. Peter, Pudding Norton, Tittleshall, Dunton, Weasenham All Saints). The works promoter is UK Power Networks.
TIVETSHALL ST MARGARET AND TIVETSHALL ST MARY – U76119 Lodge Road from its junction with B1134 Station Road for 207m northwards to facilitate patching works from 4th to 5th August 2025 (may continue until 16th September 2025). Alternative route is via: Lodge Road, Frith Way, High Green, Woodrow Lane, Station Road, Moulton Road (Great Moulton, Tivetshall, Aslacton). The works promoter is Norfolk County Council.
WEASENHAM –
A1065 Fakenham Road from its junction with C762 Church Road to its junction with B1145 Lynn Road and;
A1065 Castleacre Road from its junction with C762 Church Road to its junction with U35110 Common End and;
A1065 Castleacre Road from its junction with U35110 Common Road to its junction with C235 Heath Lane and;
A1065 Castleacre Road from its junction with C235 Heath Lane to its junction with B1145 Lynn Road to facilitate cats eye rubber replacement works between 20:00 and 05:00 from 6th to 8th August 2025 (may continue until 19th September 2025).
Alternative route is via: B1145 Lynn Road/Lexham Road/Back Street/Mileham Road/Litcham Road/The Street/Stanfield Road, B1146 Fakenham Road/Main Dereham Road/Dereham Road/Hempton Green Road, A1065 Raynham Road/Gravelpit Hill/Swaffham Road (Pudding Norton, Wellingham, Horningtoft, Litcham, Raynham, Lexham, Brisley, Colkirk, Stanfield, Hempton, Weasenham St. Peter, Weasenham all Saints, Mileham). WRENINGHAM – U78013 Wymondham Road from its junction with U76091 Ashwellthorpe Road for 350m westwards to facilitate air valve relocation works from 8th to 12th August 2025 (may continue until 23rd September 2025). Alternative route is via: Wymondham Road, Silfield Street, Silfield Road, The Street, Gravel Pit Hill, Ashwellthorpe Road (Wreningham, Wymondham, Ashwellthorpe and Fundenhall, Spooner Row). The works promoter is Anglian Water.
WRETHAM – Illington Road from its junction with Top Driftway/Old Farm for 200m eastwards to facilitate pole testing and tree cutting works between 09:30 and 15:30 on 4th August 2025 (may continue until 15th September 2025). Alternative route is via: C106 Illington Road, B1111 Watton Road/Harling Road/Road From Larling To Watton/Watton Road, A1075 Breckles/Wretham Road/Hockham Road/Watton Road/Thetford, C106 Illington Road (Hockham, Wretham, Shropham, Roudham and Larling, Stow Bedon and Breckles). The works promoter is Openreach.
WRETHAM – East Wretham Road from 1.1km west of its junction with Cricket Ground Road for 100m westwards to facilitate pole testing and tree cutting works between 09:30 and 15:30 on 4th August 2025 (may continue until 15th September 2025). Alternative route is via: C107 The Street/Croxton Road, A1066 Mundford Road, A1075 Norwich Road/Thetford Road (Croxton, Wretham, Bridgham, Kilverstone, Thetford, Roudham and Larling). The works promoter is BT.
WYMONDHAM – U71018 Ashleigh Gardens from its junction with U71121 Estelle Way for 70m westwards to facilitate patching works on 7th August 2025 (may continue until 18th September 2025). Alternative route is via: Ashleigh Gardens, Lime Tree Avenue, Tuttles Lane East, Estelle Way. The works promoter is Norfolk County Council.
YELVERTON – U76370 Dranes Lane from its junction with C374 Church Road for 180m eastwards to facilitate new fibre network installation works for BDUK from 7th to 15th August 2025 (may continue until 26th September 2025). Alternative route is via: Slade Lane, Back Road. The works promoter is CityFibre Metro Networks.
YELVERTON – C374 Slade Lane from its junction with C374 Church Road for 100m northwards to facilitate new fibre network installation works for BDUK from 5th to 6th August 2025 (may continue until 17th September 2025). Alternative route is via: Slade Lane, A146 Loddon Road, Mill Road, Bergh Apton Road, Church Road (Bergh Apton, Alpington, Yelverton, Holverston). The works promoter is CityFibre Metro Networks.

BARTON BENDISH – Stoke Road from 550m west of its junction with Eastmoor Road for 120m westwards to facilitate main laying works, the Road will be temporarily subject to a 30mph speed restriction from 4th August to 4th November 2025 (may continue until 3rd February 2027). Alternative route is via: N/A. The works promoter is Anglian Water.
BARTON BENDISH – Eastmoor Road from 180m north of its junction with Oxborough Road for 575m northwards to facilitate main laying works, the Road will be temporarily subject to a 30mph speed restriction from 4th August to 4th November 2025 (may continue until 3rd February 2027). Alternative route is via: N/A. The works promoter is Anglian Water.
DOCKING – C88 Pound Lane from its junction with B1153 Station Road for 50m eastwards to facilitate carriageway resurfacing works from 6th to 13th August 2025 (may continue until 24th September 2025). Alternative route is via: Pound Lane, Sandy Lane, Station Road. The works promoter is Norfolk County Council.
DOWNHAM MARKET –
C492 Howdale Road from its junction with C885 Bexwell Road for 20m southwards and;
C492 Howdale Road from its junction with Rouses Lane to its junction with Bexwell Road to facilitate crossing points installation works. Road 1) will be temporarily closed and Road 2) shall be temporarily subject to the suspension of the one-way system (southwest bound) to allow vehicles to travel in both a south-westerly and north-easterly direction from 4th to 8th August 2025 (may continue until 19th September 2025). Alternative route is via: Howdale Road, Church Road, Bexwell Road. The works promoter is Norfolk County Council.
SOUTH WOOTTON –
A148 Wootton Road from its junction with A1078 Low Road for 80m south westwards and;
A1078 Low Road from its junction with A148 Wootton Road for 40m westwards and;
A148 Grimston Road from its junction with A148 Wootton Road for 40m eastwards and;
U23555 Wootton Road from its junction with A148 Grimston Road for 140m south westwards and;
A148 Lynn Road from its junction with A1076 Gayton Road for 650m westwards and;
A1078 John Kennedy Road from its junction with Keeble Court for 30m northwards to facilitate resurfacing works.
The Roads 1–4 will be temporarily closed and the Roads 5–6 shall be temporarily subject to the suspension of the 7.5 tonne weight restriction from 2nd to 29th August 2025 only whilst signs indicate closures are in place (may continue until 28th February 2026).
Alternative route is via: Wootton Road, Riverside, Lynn Road, Gaywood Road, Blackfriars Road, John Kennedy Road, Edward Benefer Way, Low Road. The works promoter is Norfolk County Council.
NB: Please note that the closures are phased. The U23555 will be closed for the entire length of the anticipated dates while the other roads will only be closed between 22nd and 25th August 2025.
WEST ACRE – C269 River Road from 45m south of its junction with U22083 Sandy Lane for 30m southwards to facilitate new water connection works from 4th to 6th August 2025 (may continue until 17th September 2025). Alternative route is via: River Road, Narford Road, Narford Lane, Lynn Road (Narford, West Acre, East Walton). The works promoter is Anglian Water.

Unless otherwise stated, the effect of these Orders will be to prohibit the use by vehicles of the named road(s)/footpath(s). In the event of the start date being delayed the new start date will be displayed on site in advance. Where an Order is for a reason other than works it is because of the likelihood of danger to the public or of serious damage to the road/footpath. Anticipated dates are stated but the Orders may continue until the end date where necessary or required. The Orders are revoked on the end date or on the actual date of removal of the prohibition/restriction where earlier without further notice. If necessary, the restrictions can have a maximum duration of 18 months or 6 months in respect of footpaths, cycle paths, bridleways, restricted byways, and byways open to all traffic (BOAT).
