What is happening?

North Yorkshire Council,

Temporary Prohibition of Traffic, Halfpenny Houses to Birch Tree House, Clifton, Order 2025, No. 261

We have made this Order to prohibit any vehicle from using Halfpenny Houses to Birch Tree House, Clifton for a temporary period (subject to access to premises) between 04/08/25 & 19/09/25, due to Yorkshire Water works to install a new water main. However, the max duration of this Order is until 04/11/25. The closure period will be indicated by traffic signs & a local alternative route will be signed on site where appropriate. Temporary 20 MPH Speed Restriction, Langthwaite to Tan Hill, Langthwaite, Order 2025 No. 287

We have made this Order to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding in excess of 20 mph along Langthwaite to Tan Hill, Langthwaite for a temporary period between 05/08/25 & 16/11/25, due to installation of temporary bridge unit to span the damaged culvert for vehicles to safely cross the temporary bridge. An emergency restriction under Notice No 109 has been in place since 16/07/25. The restriction will be put into effect by notices & signs. 40 Mph Speed Limit, B1448 Topcliffe Road, Sowerby, Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that on 25/07/25 The North Yorkshire Council made an Order under Sections 84(1) & (2) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 & Part IV of Schedule 9 to the 1984 Act, the effect of which is to prohibit any motor vehicle from travelling at a speed in excess of 40 mph on the length of road specified below. B1448 Topcliffe Road, Sowerby, Starting from a point 119 metres south west from the centre point of the junction with Cedar Road, for a distance of 600 metres in a south westerly direction. A copy of the Order, which comes into operation on 04/08/25, may be examined at County Hall, Northallerton & at Thirsk Community Library, Meadowfields, Chapel Street, Thirsk, during normal office hours from 01/08/25 until 05/09/25 & is viewed online at www.northyorks.gov.uk/roadworks-map

If you wish to question the validity of the Order or of any provision contained in it, on the grounds that it is not within the powers conferred by the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, or on the grounds that any requirement of that Act, or of any Instrument made under it, has not been complied with in relation to the Order, you may, within 6 weeks of 25/07/25 make application to the High Court for the purpose.
