Carlisle. Temporary Speed Restrictions For Carlisle Southern Link Road Works

What is happening?

CUMBERLAND COUNCIL (A689 DURDAR ROUNDABOUT AND C1014 DURDAR) (CARLISLE SOUTHERN LINK ROAD) (TEMPORARY 30MPH AND 10MPH SPEED RESTRICTIONS) ORDER 2025

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable works in relation to the Carlisle Southern Link Road to continue in a safe manner (“the Works”), Cumberland Council has made an Order the effect of which is to:

  1. Prohibit any vehicle from proceeding at speeds in excess of 30 miles per hour along the lengths of road specified in Schedule 1.

  2. Prohibit any vehicle from proceeding at speeds in excess of 10 miles per hour along the lengths of road specified in Schedule 2.

    N.B. The 10 miles per hour speed restriction will operate where contractor’s operatives and plant are working in the road. It will operate on a convoy system with a lead vehicle controlling traffic speed to protect the workforce.

Speed limit imposed by this Order will apply to vehicles falling within regulation 3(4) of the Road Traffic Exemptions (Special Forces) (Variation and Amendment) Regulations 2011 when used in accordance with regulation 3(5) of those Regulations.

The Order will come into operation on 4 August 2025 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months, and when the relevant traffic signs are displayed.

    For its entire circumference.

  2. C1014 Durdar

    From its junction with Durdar Road to its junction with the A689 Durdar Roundabout, between Grid References: 340475,551541 and 339952,551156.

  3. C1014 Durdar

    From its junction with the A689 Durdar Roundabout, to its junction with Newbiggin Road, between Grid References: 339643,550914 and 339893,551098.

SCHEDULE 2 - EXTENT OF 10 MILES PER HOUR SPEED RESTRICTION

  1. A689 Durdar Roundabout, Carlisle

    For its entire circumference.

  2. C1014 Durdar

    From its junction with Durdar Road to its junction with the A689 Durdar Roundabout, between Grid References: 340475,551541 and 339952,551156.

  3. C1014 Durdar

    From its junction with the A689 Durdar Roundabout, to its junction with Newbiggin Road, between Grid References: 339643,550914 and 339893,551098.
