Viaduct Estate Road, Carlisle - Temporary Road Closure due to Devegetation Works

(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF ALL TRAFFIC) (NO.2) ORDER 2025

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable devegetation works to be carried out (“the Works”), Cumberland Council intends to make an Order the effect of which is to prohibit all traffic (i.e. vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists), from proceeding along that section of the Viaduct Estate Road, Carlisle, from its junction with the A595 Bridge Street/Castle Way, extending in a south easterly direction for approx. 510m.

A suitable alternative route for South Bound Vehicles will be signed and available via the A595 Bridge Street and Church Street, Shaddongate, Junction Street, Charlotte Street, Nelson Bridge and the unrestricted section of Viaduct Estate Road.

The Order will come into operation on 17 August 2025 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restriction will only be required from 0040 on Sunday 17 August 2025 to 0840 hours on Sunday 17 August 2025 and only as and when the appropriate traffic signs are displayed.
