Essex, Multiple Roads & Footpath, Temporary Closures Due To Various Works

What is happening?

Essex County Council

(Footpath 48 & Footpath 2, Lawford) (Temporary Prohibition of Use) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended by the Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close Footpath 48 and Footpath 2, Lawford in the District of Tendring, as specified below.

The closure is scheduled to commence on 11 August 2025 to 17 October 2025 or where appropriate signs are showing and weather permitting.

The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while critical maintenance works to the flood protection embankment is undertaken.

Alternative route: Footpath 2, B1352 Station Road, A137, Cattawade Sluice, Footpath 48 and vice versa.

The Order will come into effect on 11 August 2025 and may continue in force for 6 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Franks Road, Dovercourt) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Franks Road, Dovercourt in the District of Tendring from its junction with Fronks Avenue for a distance of approximately 40m in a south westerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 12th August 2025 for 8 days, or where stated on a valid permit (MT010012074973 – Affinity Water). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while new valve replacement works are undertaken by Affinity Water.

An alternative route is available via Fronks Road, Highfield Avenue, Portland Avenue, First Avenue, Franks Road and vice versa.

The Order can remain in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Manor Lane, Dovercourt) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Manor Lane, Dovercourt in the District of Tendring, from its junction with Elizabeth Road to its junction with Manor Road a distance of approximately 110m. The closure is scheduled to continue from 23rd July 2025 for a further 5 days or where stated on a valid permit (EP201EH2388511 – Essex County Council). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce to undertake repairs while maintenance in the carriageway works are undertaken by Essex County Council.

An alternative route is available via Manor Lane, Fronks Road, Main Road, Manor Road and vice versa.

The Order came into effect on 23rd July 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Market Street, Harwich) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Market Street, Harwich in the District of Tendring, from its junction with Church Street to its junction with Kings Head Street a distance of approximately 35m. The closure is scheduled to commence on 19th August 2025 for 10 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EP202508905698 – Safer Roadworks). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while scaffolding works are undertaken by Safer Roadworks.

An alternative route is available via Kings Head Street, The Quay, West Street, Church Lane and Church Street.

The Order can remain in force until 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
