HARROWDEN ROAD SERVICE ROAD, BEDFORD 25 - 048
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Bedford Borough Council has made an Order the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicle except a vehicle being used for fire, police or ambulance purposes in an emergency, from proceeding along the length of Harrowden Road Service Road, Bedford Between Worcester Road and 151.
This temporary road closure is required to facilitate a GPS Survey and shall apply to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the appropriate traffic signs. This temporary road closure is anticipated to be in operation 08:00 to 18:00 hours 18th August 2025
The signed alternative route for vehicles affected by the order is available via Harrowden Road Service Road, Duchess Road, Harrowden Road, Worcester Road.
The reverse route applies.

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984: SECTION 14(1)
TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC ORDER 2025
PRINCES STREET, BEDFORD 25 - 041
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Bedford Borough Council has made an Order the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicle except a vehicle being used for fire, police or ambulance purposes in an emergency, from proceeding along the length of Princes Street, Bedford.
This temporary road closure is required to facilitate repairs to water main and shall apply to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the appropriate traffic signs.
This temporary road closure is anticipated to be in operation 08:00 to 17:00 hours from 18th August 2025 to 20th August 2025
The signed alternative route for vehicles affected by the order is available via Wellington Street, Foster Hill Road.
The reverse route applies.

BROMHAM BYPASS, BROMHAM AND GOLD LANE BIDDENHAM 25 - 031
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Bedford Borough Council has made an Order the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding along the length of Bromham Bypass, Bromham, from the A6 to Deep Spinney and Gold Lane from Deep Spinney to Thorpe Close.
These temporary road closures are required to facilitate re surfacing carriageway and shall apply to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the appropriate traffic signs. These temporary road closures are anticipated to be in operation 20:00 to 05:00 hours from 19th August 2025 to 22nd August 2025
The signed alternative route for vehicles affected by the order is available via The Great Ouse Way, Paula Radcliffe Way, Clapham Road, Manton Lane, Shakespeare Road, Bromham Road.
The reverse route applies.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Bedford Borough Council has made an Order the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicle except a vehicle being used for fire, police or ambulance purposes in an emergency,from proceeding along the length of Church Lane, Odell Road, Pinchmill Close, Sharnbrook. These temporary road closures are required to facilitate carriageway resurfacing, lining, road markings and iron works and shall apply to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the appropriate traffic signs.
These temporary road closures are anticipated to be in operation 20:00 to 06:00 hours nights only from 18th August 2025 to 5th September 2025

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Bedford Borough Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this Notice to make an Order the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicle, except a vehicle being used for fire, police or ambulance purposes in an emergency, from proceeding along Stancliffe Road, Bedford ,side of 45.
This temporary road closure is required to facilitate a new water supply and shall apply to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the appropriate traffic signs.
This temporary road closure is anticipated to be in operation 08:00 to 17:00 hours from 1st September 2025 to 3rd September 2025

BEDFORD BOROUGH COUNCIL PROPOSES TO INTRODUCE A 20MPH SPEED LIMIT AT ST MARYS STREET, BEDFORD
Reason for Proposal:
Following a request from Ward Councillors, Bedford Borough Council proposes to reduce the speed limit to 20mph in the part of St Marys Street adjoining High Street, Bedford. This will in effect extend the existing 20mph speed limit covering High Street, St Paul’s Square and the adjoining area.
Effect of the Order:
1. To introduce a 20mph speed limit on the following length of road in Bedford:
A St Marys Street, Bedford
(i) Extending from its junction with High Street/St Paul’s Square in a southerly direction to its junction with Duck Mill Lane.

BEDFORD BOROUGH COUNCIL PROPOSE TO CORRECT ANOMALIES AND INTRODUCE NEW PARKING RESTRICTIONS IN HILLGROUNDS ROAD AND OTHER ROADS, KEMPSTON
Reason for Proposals:
Bedford Borough Council has been made aware of inconsistencies, and received a request from Ward Councillors for some new parking restrictions in the Hillgrounds Road area of Kempston. The proposal is aimed at correcting these existing anomalies, and helping to maintain visibility and safety at these locations.
Effect of the Order:
1. To revoke all existing waiting restrictions and replace with the following:-
“No waiting Mon-Fri, 8am-9.30am, 3pm-4.30pm” restrictions (single yellow line) on the following lengths of roads:
A Hillgrounds Road, Kempston
(i) On its eastern kerb, extending from a point approx. 78 metres north-west of its southern junction with Bedford Road to a point approx. 3.5 metres north-east of the eastern boundary of no. 21 Hillgrounds Road (the end of the ‘No stopping on entrance markings’ restriction).
(ii) Commencing on its north-western kerb, extending from the projected north-eastern boundary of no. 23 Hillgrounds Road (the start of the ‘No stopping on entrance markings’ restriction) in a south-westerly direction, then continuing in north-westerly direction on its north-eastern kerb to the projected boundary between no. 65 Hillgrounds Road and no. 14 Egglestone Close.
(iii) On its south-western kerb, from a point approx. 38 metres north-west of the projected centre line of Egglestone Close for a distance of approx. 29 metres in a north-westerly direction.
(iv) On its south-western kerb, from a point approx. 0.5 metres north-west of the projected centre line of Egglestone Close for a distance of approx. 50 metres in a south-easterly direction.
B Newbury Close, Kempston
(i) On both sides, extending from its junction with Hillgrounds Road for a distance of approx. 7.5 metres in a north-easterly direction.
C Egglestone Close, Kempston
(i) On its south-eastern kerb, extending from its junction with Hillgrounds Road for a distance of approx. 6.5 metres in a north-easterly direction.
(ii) On its north-eastern kerb, extending from its junction with Hillgrounds Road for a distance of approx.
5.5 metres in a south-easterly direction.
2. To introduce new “No waiting at any time” restrictions (double yellow lines) on the following lengths of roads:
A Hillgrounds Road, Kempston
(i) On its south-western kerb, extending from a point approx. 2 metres south of the boundary between nos. 16 and 18 Hillgrounds Road, continuing in a northerly and then westerly direction to a point on the southern kerb of the access road between nos. 18 and 30 Hillgrounds Road, approx. 10 metres south-west of the southwestern side of the western leg of Hillgrounds Road.
(ii) On the north-west side of the access road between nos. 18 and 30 Hillgrounds Road, extending from a point approx. 10 metres from the south-western side of the western leg of Hillgrounds Road, continuing in a northerly direction to a point on the south-western side of the western leg of Hillgrounds Road approx. 15 metres in a northerly direction from the projected centre of the access road between nos. 18 and 30 Hillgrounds Road.
(iii) On its south-western kerb, extending for a distance of approx. 12 metres in both south-easterly and northwesterly directions from the centre of the access road fronting nos. 44 to 52 Hillgrounds Road.
(iv) On both sides of the access road fronting nos. 44 to 52 Hillgrounds Road, extending for a distance of approx. 10 metres in a south-westerly direction from the southwest side of the western leg of Hillgrounds Road.
(v) On its north-eastern kerb, extending from a point approx. 43.5 metres north-west of the projected centre of Prentice Gardens for a distance of approx. 35 metres in a north-westerly direction.
(vi) On its southern kerb, extending from a point approx. 17 metres west of the centre of Hartwell Drive in an easterly direction to a point approx. 17 metres east of the centre of Hartwell Drive.
(vii) On its southern kerb, from a point approx. 99.5 metres east of the centre of Hartwell Drive extending into the southern entrance to the parking area, on both sides, for a distance of approx. 16 metres in an easterly direction.
(viii) On its southern kerb, extending from a point approx. 52 metres west of the centre of Ely Way, including around the extent of the turning head, for a distance of approx. 20 metres in an easterly direction.
(ix) On its southern kerb, extending from a point approx. 10 metres west of the centre of Ely Way in an easterly direction to a point approx. 10 metres east of the centre of Ely Way.
(x) On its southern kerb, extending from a point approx. 33 metres east of the centre of Ely Way, including around the extent of the turning head, for a distance of approx. 17 metres in an easterly direction.
(xi) On its southern kerb, extending from a point approx. 14 metres west of the centre of Butler Way in an easterly direction to a point approx. 14 metres east of the centre of Butler Way.
(xii) On its southern kerb, from a point approx. 56 metres east of the centre of Butler Way extending into the southern entrance to the courtyard to the extent of the adopted highway, on both sides, for a distance of approx. 19 metres in an easterly direction.
(xiii) On its southern kerb, extending from a point approx. 13 metres west of the centre of Prentice Gardens in an easterly direction to a point approx. 13 metres east of the centre of Prentice Gardens.
(xiv) On its northern kerb, from a point approx. 17 metres east of the centre of Hartwell Drive extending for a distance of approx. 60 metres in a westerly direction.
(xv) On its north-eastern kerb, extending from the projected northern boundary of no. 129 Hillgrounds Road for distances of approx. 3.5 metres in a southeasterly direction and approx. 30 metres in a northwesterly direction.
(xvi) On its south-western kerb, extending from the projected boundary between nos. 5 and 7 Fowler Close for distances of approx. 10.5 metres in south-easterly direction, and approx. 28 metres in a north-westerly direction.
B Hartwell Drive, Kempston
(i) On both sides, from the southern side of Hillgrounds Road for a distance of approx. 20 metres in a southerly direction.
C Ely Way, Kempston
(i) On both sides, from the southern side of Hillgrounds Road for a distance of approx. 5 metres in a southerly direction.
D Butler Way, Kempston
(i) On both sides, from the southern side of Hillgrounds Road for a distance of approx. 10 metres in a southerly direction.
E Prentice Gardens, Kempston
(i) On both sides, from the southern side of Hillgrounds Road for a distance of approx. 10 metres in a southerly direction.
3. To introduce “No Stopping on entrance markings, Mon-Fri, 8:00am-4:30pm” restrictions on the following length of road:
A Hillgrounds Road, Kempston
(i) Around the turning head in the access road to Bedford Road Primary Academy School, extending from the projected north-eastern boundary of no. 23 Hillgrounds Road in a north-easterly, then south-easterly and southwesterly (clockwise) direction to a point on its southeastern kerb approx. 3.5 metres north-east of the eastern boundary of no. 21 Hillgrounds Road.
4. To introduce new “No waiting Mon-Sat, 7am-7pm” restrictions (single yellow line) on the following lengths of road:
A Hillgrounds Road, Kempston (existing single yellow)
(i) On its western kerb, extending from its southern junction with Bedford Road in a north-westerly direction to a point approx. 2 metres south of the boundary between nos. 16 and 18 Hillgrounds Road.
(ii) On its eastern kerb, extending from its southern junction with Bedford Road for a distance of approx. 66 metres in a northerly direction.
5 To introduce a new parking bay “30 mins, No return within 2 hours” on the following length of road:
A Hillgrounds Road, Kempston
(i) On its south-western kerb, from a point approx. 0.5 metres north-west of the projected centre line of Egglestone Close for a distance of approx. 37.5 metres in a north-westerly direction.

BEDFORD BOROUGH COUNCIL PROPOSE TO INTRODUCE A LOADING BAY IN CASTLE ROAD GYRATORY, BEDFORD.
Reason for Proposal.
As part of the re-alignment works in Castle Road gyratory, it is proposed to re-locate a loading bay to assist commercial premises located in the vicinity.
Effect of the Order:
1. To revoke and remove the ‘No waiting at any time’ restriction (double yellow lines) on the following length of road:
A Castle Road Gyratory, Bedford
(i) On the eastern side of its eastern leg, from a point approx. 5 metres north of the northern side of the eastbound leg of Castle Road for a distance of approx. 21.2 metres in a northerly direction.
2. To replace the aforementioned revoked “No waiting at any time” restriction with a Loading Bay, Mon-Sat, 8am-6pm, having a maximum stay of 20 minutes.
No waiting at all other times.

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 – SECTION 14(1)
BEDFORD BOROUGH COUNCIL (CARDINGTON: BRIDLEWAY NO 2 AND COPLE BRIDLEWAY NO 14) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2024
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that an Order made by Bedford Borough Council on 2nd August 2024, extended on 31st January 2025 the effect of which will be to prohibit any person proceeding on horseback or lead a horse along Cardington Bridleway No 2 and Cople Bridleway No 14, which extends from Ordnance Survey Grid Reference OS GR TL 1057 4711 to OS GR TL 1120 4535 has been continued in force with the approval of the Secretary of State for Transport until 8th February 2026. This closure is required due to holes in the surface of the bridleway caused by animals. The closure will continue from Saturday 9th August 2025 for a period of six months.
There is no alternative route for users while the closure is in place. The Order will come into operation on 9th August 2025 for a period not exceeding six months or until the works which it is proposed to carry out on or near to the bridleways have been completed, whichever is the earlier. If the works are not completed within six months the Order may be extended for a longer period with the consent of the Secretary of State for Transport. ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 – SECTION 14(1) BEDFORD BOROUGH COUNCIL
(FORTY FOOT LANE SECTION 2 AND 3 (KNOTTING AND SOULDROP: BYWAY OPEN TO ALL TRAFFIC NO 10 AND WYMINGTON: BYWAY OPEN TO ALL TRAFFIC NO 8)) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2025
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Bedford Borough Council have made an Order the effect which will be to prohibit any mechanically propelled vehicle (other than a motor cycle) or horse drawn carriage) to proceed along the following sections of Byway:
FORTY FOOT LANE (2) (part of BOAT No 10 Knotting and Souldrop and BOAT No 8 Wymington) from Plain Pond at OSGR SP9613 6117 for approx 2220m to its junction with Footpath No 4 Knotting & Souldrop at OSGR SP9781 6254.
FORTY FOOT LANE (3) (part of BOAT No 10 Knotting and Souldrop) from its junction with the UC299 Chapel Lane Souldrop at OSGR SP9803-6268 for approx 485 metres to its junction with the A6 at OSGR SP9844 6294 The temporary closure is required to prevent damage to the surface of the lane.
The closure follows an emergency made on 21st July 2025 and will continue from Tuesday 12th August 2025 up to six months.
There is no alternative route for vehicles while the closure is in operation.
The Order will come into operation on 12th August 2025 for a period not exceeding six months or until the works which it is proposed to carry out on or near to the Byway have been completed, whichever is the earlier. If the works are not completed within six months the Order may be extended for a longer period with the consent of the Secretary of State for Transport.
