What is happening?
THE METROPOLITAN BOROUGH COUNCIL OF STOCKPORT (HEMPSHAW LANE, OFFERTON AND VARIOUS ROADS) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) NOTICE 2025
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Metropolitan Borough Council of Stockport has made an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended by the Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991, the effect of which introduced a Temporary Prohibition of Driving at Hempshaw Lane, Offerton - From approx. 50m east of the junction of Dialstone Lane to approx. 50m west of the junction of Dialstone Lane, Banks Lane, Offerton - From the junction of Hempshaw Lane in a northerly direction for approx. 50m, and Dialstone Lane, Offerton - From the junction of Hempshaw Lane in a southerly direction for approx. 50m, whilst traffic signs to that effect are in place on or near the said road. This Order is necessary to allow for carriageway resurfacing works to take place. It is estimated these works will last 13 days. Overnight works are anticipated to take place from 19:00pm to 05:00am, with noisy works to take place before 00.00am. A diversion will be provided via: Hempshaw Lane diversion: Hempshaw Lane, St Mary’s Way, Hall Street, Offerton Lane, and vice versa. Banks Lane and Dialstone Lane diversion: Banks Lane, Offerton Lane, Marple Road, Hillcrest Road, Dialstone Lane, and vice versa. This Order does not apply to any vehicle on any occasion when it is being used for fire brigade, ambulance or police purposes.
This Order does not apply to pedestrians. This Order will come into operation on 15 September 2025 and will have effect for eighteen months, provided that if all necessary works are completed within a shorter period this Order shall cease to have effect at the end of that shorter period.
