What is happening?

THE METROPOLITAN BOROUGH COUNCIL OF STOCKPORT
(MILL LANE AND VARIOUS ROADS PLANNED HIGHWAYS MAINTENANCE) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) NOTICE 2025

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Metropolitan Borough Council of Stockport has made an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended by the Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991, the effect of which introduced a Temporary Prohibition of Driving at Mill Lane, Romiley - Full Extent. No Diversion. Access to Locals and Businesses Only, Dark Lane, Bredbury - From Mill Lane to Barrier approximately 50m past W J Massey Farm. No Diversion. Access to Locals and Businesses Only, Cobden Edge, Mellor - Full length between Bogguard Road and Higher Capstone Farm. No Diversion. Access to Locals and Businesses Only, Hollywood Road, Mellor - From Gird Lane to Chatterton Lane. Diversion via Mill brow, Hollins Lane, Town Street, Longhurst Lane, Moor End Road, Shiloh Road, Chatterton Lane and vice versa, whilst traffic signs to that effect are in place on or near the said roads. This Order is necessary to allow for planned maintenance works. It is estimated these works will last up to 3 weeks. This Order came into operation on the 1 August 2025 and will have effect for eighteen months, provided that if all necessary works are completed within a shorter period this Order shall cease to have effect at the end of that shorter period.
