Essex County Council

(Various Roads, Great Bentley)

(Combined Speed Limits) Order 202*

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council proposes to make the above Order under sections 84(1)(a) and (2), and Parts IV and Part III of Schedule 9 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended)

Effect of the order:

1. To Extend: an existing ‘30mph Speed Limit’ (Currently a 40mph Speed Limit)

Plough Road, Great BentleyFrom a point approximately 245 metres south of its junction with Hall View Road, south for approximately 31 metres.
‘The Essex County Council (Tendring District) (40mph Speed Limit) (No. 2) Order 2010’ is hereby revoked insofar as it relates to the lengths of road, in the Parish of Great Bentley. All other roads not mentioned above shall continue in force by virtue of the existing Order.

‘The Essex County Council (Plough Road, Great Bentley) (40mph Speed Limit) Order 2014’ is hereby revoked in its entirety. All restrictions shall continue in force by virtue of the new Order.

‘The Essex County Council (Various Roads, Great Bentley) (20mph Zone, Restricted Roads and 30mph Speed Limit) Order 2024’ is hereby revoked in its entirety. All restrictions shall remain in force by virtue of the new Order.

Cinderpath Way, Great Bentley (Private Road) will be a ‘30mph Speed Limit Restricted Road by virtue of Street Lighting’ as shown on the plan in salmon from its junction with Plough Road east for approximately 15 metres.

2. To Implement: a ‘No Stopping at Any Time Except for Buses’ Restriction

(Footpath 3, Layer De La Haye)

(Temporary Prohibition of Use) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended

Effect of the order: To temporarily close Footpath 3, Layer De La Haye, in the Borough of Colchester, for its entire length from High Road to The Folley.

The closure is scheduled to commence on 11 August 2025 to 06 October 2025 or where appropriate signs are showing and weather permitting.

The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while resurfacing of the footpath is undertaken.

Alternative route: The Folley, High Road and vice versa.

The Order will come into effect on 11 August 2025 and may continue in force for 6 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Footpath 39, Myland)

(Temporary Prohibition of Use) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the above Order made by Essex County Council, under s14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, has been continued in force with the consent of the Secretary of State for the Department for Transport until 09 February 2026

Effect of the order: To temporarily close to all pedestrians Footpath 39, Myland in the City of Colchester, from its junction with footpath 38, northwest for approximately 315 metres.

No alternative route is available.

The closure commenced on 09 February 2025 and is required for the safety of the public and workforce whilst construction works are undertaken.

(Blackberry Road, Stanway)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Blackberry Road, Stanway in the City of Colchester, from its junction with Heath Road to its junction with Dyers Road a distance of approximately 40m.

The closure is scheduled to commence on 18th August 2025 for 15 days, or where stated on a valid permit (BC411002FBR39478 – Openreach). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network.

The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while duct lay in footway and carriageway works are undertaken by Openreach.

An alternative route is available via Blackberry Road, Warren Lane, Church Lane, Tollgate Road, Tollgate East, Tollgate Roundabout, London Road, Villa Road, Chapel Road, Winstree Road and vice versa.

The Order will come into effect on 7th August 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Clingoe Hill, Colchester) & (Boundary Road, Colchester)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order:

  1. To temporarily close that length of Clingoe Hill, Colchester in the City of Colchester, from its junction with Greenstead Roundabout to its junction with B1027 a distance of approximately 1320m (Eastbound Only).

  2. To temporarily close that length of Clingoe Hill, Colchester in the City of Colchester, from its junction with B1027 to its junction with Greenstead Roundabout a distance of approximately 1320m (Westbound Only).

  3. To temporarily close the On Slip Roads and Off Slip Roads of Boundary Road, Colchester in the City of Colchester, from its junction with Clingoe Hill for a distance of approximately 100m (for the Westbound Closure Only).

    The closures are scheduled to commence (one phase at a time) on 11th August 2025 – 15th August 2025 and again on 18th August 2025 to 22nd August 2025 for 11 nights (19:00–05:00), or where stated on a valid permit (EP20130132977 & EP20181330037 – Essex County Council). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closures are required for the safety of the public and workforce while resurfacing of carriageway, installation of cross-carriageway ducting and drainage works are undertaken by Essex County Council.

    An alternative route is available via Greenstead Roundabout, A133, A1232, Crown Interchange Roundabout, A120, A133, Colchester Road Roundabout, A133 and vice versa.

    The Order will come into effect on 7th August 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

    (Colchester Road, West Bergholt)

    (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

    Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

    Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Colchester Road, West Bergholt in the City of Colchester, from a point approximately 80m south east of its junction with Manor Road for a distance of approximately 20m in a south easterly direction.

    The closure is scheduled to commence on 26th August 2025 for 4 days, or where stated on a valid permit (AD02310775831/1 – Anglian Water). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network.

    The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while new connection works are undertaken by Anglian Water.

    An alternative route is available via B1508, A131, A134, B1508 and vice versa.

    The Order will come into effect on 7th August 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

    (Mersea Road, Abberton

    (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

    Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

    Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Mersea Road, Abberton in the City of Colchester, from a point approximately 240m north east of the junction with Fingringhoe Road for a distance of approximately 30m in a north easterly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 12th August 2025 for 3 days, or where stated on a valid permit (AD01310780936 – Anglian Water).

    The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while new supply connection works are undertaken by Anglian Water.

    An alternative route is available via

    1. St Botolphs Circus Roundabout, Southway, Butt Road, Layer Road, High Road, Malthing Green Road, Abberton Road, Layer Road, Mersea Road. (with access only into Mersea Road).

    2. St Botolphs Circus Roadabout, Southway, Southway Roundabout, Maldon Road, Drury Road and vice versa.

    The Order will come into effect on 7th August 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

    (Mile End Road, Colchester)

    (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

    Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

    Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Mile End Road, Colchester in the City of Colchester, from a point approximately 60m north west of the junction with Wedgewood Drive for a distance of approximately 30m in a north westerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 25th August 2025 for 3 days, or where stated on a valid permit (AD03166186852 – Anglian Water).

    The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while pipe repair works are undertaken by Anglian Water.

    An alternative route is available via Mile End Road, North Station Roundabout, Northern Approach, Mill Road, Nayland Road and vice versa.

    The Order will come into effect on 7th August 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

    (New Farm Road, Stanway)

    (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

    Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

    Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of New Farm Road, Stanway in the City of Colchester, from its junction with London Road to its junction with Chappel Road a distance of approximately 710m. The closure is scheduled to commence on 26th August 2025 for 4 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EP201EH2388958A – Essex County Council).

    The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while carriageway repairs works are undertaken by Essex County Council.

    An alternative route is available via Chapel Road, London Road and vice versa.

    The Order will come into effect on 7th August 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

    (Oxford Road, Colchester)

    (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

    Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

    Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Oxford Road, Colchester in the City of Colchester, from its junction with Lexden Road for a distance of approximately 55m in a south easterly direction.

    The closure is scheduled to commence on 26th August 2025 for 4 days, or where stated on a valid permit (AD02310780939 – Anglian Water).

    The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while new connection works are undertaken by Anglian Water.

    An alternative route is available via Creffield Road, Beverley Road, Lexden Road and vice versa. (with access only into Oxford Road).

    The Order will come into effect on 7th August 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

    (Albion Street, Rowhedge)

    (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

    Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

    Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Albion Street, Rowhedge in the City of Colchester, from its junction with Paget Road for a distance of approximately 32m in a north easterly direction.

    The closure is scheduled to commence on 12th August 2025 for 1 day, or where stated on a valid permit (EC30032828463 – UK Power Networks). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network.

    The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while new connection works are undertaken by UK Power Networks.

    An alternative route is available via Taylors Road, Rectory Road, Head Street, High Street and vice versa.

    The Order came into effect on 24th July 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

    (Alresford Road/Wivenhoe Road, Elmstead)

    (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

    Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

    Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Alresford Road/Wivenhoe Road, Elmstead in the District of Tendring, from the junction with Keelars Lane to the junction with Old Wivenhoe Road a distance of approximately 915m. The closure is scheduled to commence on 11th August 2025 for 3 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EP201EH2378038 – Essex County Council). The Scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while carriageway patching works are undertaken by Essex County Council.

    The Order came into effect on 24th July 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

    (Boxted Church Road, Great Horkesley)

    (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

    Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

    Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Boxted Church Road, Great Horkesley in the City of Colchester, from its junction with Tog Lane for a distance of approximately 175m in a north easterly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 13th August 2025 for 3 days, or where stated on a valid permit (AD037R065288417 – Anglian Water). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network.

    The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while ECC works are undertaken by Anglian Water.

    (Chappel Road, Fordham)

    (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

    Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

    Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Chappel Road, Fordham in the City of Colchester, from its junction with Penlan Hall Lane for a distance of approximately 400m in a north easterly then south easterly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 11th August 2025 for 4 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EP201EH2386517–EH2385397 – Essex County Council).

    Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

    (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

    Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

    Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Dyers Road, Stanway in the City of Colchester, from its junction with Warren Lane to its junction with Blackberry Road a distance of approximately 860m.

    The closure is scheduled to commence on 11th August 2025 for 29 days, or where stated on a valid permit (BC411005FBR39476 – Openreach). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network.

    The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while carriageway and footway works are undertaken by Openreach.

    (East Gores Road, Coggeshall)

    (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

    Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

    Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of East Gores Road, Coggeshall in the City of Colchester, from a point approximately 500m south west of its junction with Buckley’s Lane for a distance of approximately 30m in a southerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 13th August 2025 for 1 day, or where stated on a valid permit (AD03061664214 – Anglian Water).

    The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while meter exchange works are undertaken by Anglian Water.

    An alternative route is available via A120, Great Tey Road, Brook Road, The Street and vice versa (with access only into East Gores Road, Coggeshall Road and Salmons Lane).

    The Order came into effect on 24th July 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

    (Hardys Green, Birch)

    (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

    Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

    Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Hardys Green, Birch in the City of Colchester, from a point approximately 220m north west of its junction with Maldon Road for a distance of approximately 20m in a north westerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 11th August 2025 for 1 day, or where stated on a valid permit (AD03061814944 – Anglian Water).
