What is happening?

Essex County Council

(Cherrydown Footbridge, Basildon)

(Temporary Prohibition of Use) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended.

Effect of the order: To temporary close Cherrydown Footbridge in the Borough of Basildon, Cherrydown Footbridge, over A176 Nether Mayne.

The closure is scheduled to commence on 02 August 2025 to 05 September 2025 or where appropriate signs are showing and weather permitting.

The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while footbridge refurbishment works are undertaken.

Alternative route: North – A176 Nether Mayne, Ashdon Way. South – A176 Nether Mayne, The Knares.

The Order will come into effect on 02 August 2025 and may continue in force for 6 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Furtherwick Road, Canvey Island)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Furtherwick Road, Canvey Island in the Borough of Castle Point, from its junction with Foksville Road to its junction with Long Road a distance of approximately 75m.

The closure is scheduled to commence on 27th August 2025 for 3 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EP10000015460 – Essex County Council). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while crossing post and bollard replacement works are undertaken by Essex County Council.

An alternative route is available via A130, B1014 and vice versa (following the one way at Elder Tree Road).

The Order will come into effect on 7th August 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Hillhouse Drive, Billericay)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Hillhouse Drive, Billericay in the Borough of Basildon, from its junction with Perry Street for a distance of approximately 20m in a south easterly direction.

The closure is scheduled to commence on 25th August 2025 for 12 days, or where stated on a valid permit (AZ5021001408541 – Cadent). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while mains replacement works are undertaken by Cadent.

An alternative route is available via Hillhouse Drive, B1007, Newlands Road, Perry Street and vice versa.

The Order will come into effect on 7th August 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Oakhurst Drive, Wickford)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Oakhurst Drive, Wickford in the Borough of Basildon, from its junction with Nevendon Road to its junction with Karen Close a distance of approximately 35m. The closure is scheduled to commence on 25th August 2025 for 15 days, or where stated on a valid permit (AZ5021001363988 – Cadent). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while mains replacement works are undertaken by Cadent.

An alternative route is available via Grange Avenue, Nevendon Road and vice versa (with access only into Oakhurst Drive).

The Order will come into effect on 7th August 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Watery Lane, Rayleigh/Rawreth & Beeches Road, Rawreth)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Watery Lane, Rayleigh/Rawreth & Beeches Road, Rawreth in the District of Rochford, from the junction of Hullbridge Road to the junction of Chelmsford Road a distance of approximately 2750m. The closure is scheduled to commence on 25th August 2025 for 3 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EP2017886614 – Essex County Council). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while parapet repairs works are undertaken by Essex County Council.

An alternative route is available via Hullbridge Road, Rawreth Lane, Chelmsford Road and vice versa.

The Order will come into effect on 7th August 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Keats Square, South Woodham Ferrers)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Keats Square, South Woodham Ferrers in the City of Chelmsford, from its junction with Benbow Drive to its other junction with Benbow Drive a distance of approximately 160m. The closure is scheduled to commence on 11th August 2025 for 12 days, or where stated on a valid permit (N7103DIS166014 – Nexfibre). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while duct lay works are undertaken by Nexfibre.

An alternative route is available via Benbow Drive and vice versa.

The Order came into effect on 24th July 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Spa Road & Woodlands Road, Hockley)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order:

  1. To temporarily close that length of Spa Road, Hockley in the District of Rochford, from its junction with Main Road to its junction with Bramerton Road, a distance of approximately 45m.

  2. To temporarily close that length of Woodlands Road, Hockley in the District of Rochford, from its junction with Main Road for a distance of approximately 30m in a south westerly direction.

The closures are scheduled to commence on 11th August 2025 for 24 days, or where stated on a valid permit (AZ5021001400723 & AZ5021001401781 – Cadent). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closures are required for the safety of the public and workforce while mains replacement works are undertaken by Cadent.

Alternative routes available via:

  1. Spa Road, Station Road, Great Eastern Road, Southend Road and vice versa.

  2. Woodlands Road, Kilnwood Avenue, Hockley Rise, Southend Road and vice versa.

The Order came into effect on 24th July 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Oxford Road, Rochford)

(Temporary Introduction of a Clearway) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily introduce a ‘No Waiting, No Loading and No Stopping’ in that length of Oxford Road, Rochford in the District of Rochford from its junction with Ashingdon Road for a distance of approximately 190m in a north easterly direction.

“The Essex County Council (Rochford District) (Prohibition of Waiting, Loading and Stopping) and (On Street Parking Places) (Civil Enforcement Area) Consolidation Order 2019” will be temporarily amended to include the temporary ‘No Waiting, No Loading and No Stopping at Any Time’ restriction and suspend any existing parking and waiting restrictions on the above lengths of roads only. All other restrictions and exemptions contained in the aforementioned Order and Amendments to that Order shall remain in force.

The clearway is scheduled to commence on 12th August 2025 for 4 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EP02248092008 – Portakabin). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The clearway is required for the safety of the public and workforce while Portakabin facilitates HGV’s deliveries.

The Order came into effect on 24th July 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
