Upper High Street - Temporary Closure For Gas Main Upgrade Works

What is happening?

Temporary Closure of Upper High Street

Somerset Council in exercise of its powers under Section 14 (1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended, propose to make an Order prohibiting all traffic from proceeding along Upper High Street - from the junction with Ansford Road to the junction with Chapel Close. A total distance of 102 metres. This Order will enable Wales & West Utilities to carry out gas main upgrade works.

The Order becomes effective on 21st August 2025 and will remain in force for 18 months. The works are expected to commence on 26th August 2025 and last until 12th September 2025 between the hours of 00:00 - 23:59 for a total of 18 days.
