Westmorland & Furness, Temporary Road Closures Due To Bridge Repair Works

What is happening?

WESTMORLAND AND FURNESS COUNCIL (U5295 CROOK O’LUNE BRIDGE, NEAR LOWGILL AND U5498 GARSDALE BRIDGE) (TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION) ORDER 2025

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable bridge repair works to be carried out (“the Works”), Westmorland and Furness Council intends to make an Order the effect of which is to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding along that section of the;

(i) U5295 Crook O’Lune Bridge near Lowgill, for a distance of 50m either side of the centre line of the bridge.

Alternative Route: via the U5472 Howgill Lane, C5100 Slacks Lane, U5515, A684 (Sedbergh), B6257 and the unrestricted section of the U5295.

Duration: From 18th September 2025 for approx. 12 days (Ref: TTROW/15214)

(ii) U5498 Garsdale Bridge, for a distance of 25m either side of the centre line of the bridge.

There is no suitable alternative route available for vehicles.

Duration: From 18th September 2025 for approx. 26 days (Ref: TTROW/15225)

The Order will come into operation on 18th September 2025 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restrictions will only be required as detailed above, and only as and when the appropriate traffic signs are displayed.
