Cobbs Brow Lane - Temporary Prohibition of Through Traffic to Allow Engineers to Carry Out Pole Test Works
What is happening?
LANCASHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL
(COBBS BROW LANE, NEWBURGH, WEST LANCASHIRE BOROUGH) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2025
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Lancashire County Council intend to make an Order under Section 14(1) (a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, the effect of which will be to temporarily prohibit traffic on the roads set out in this notice.
1. No person shall cause any motor vehicle to proceed over that length of COBBS BROW LANE, NEWBURGH at its junction with LOWES LANE, NEWBURGH for a distance of 1.2KM in a southerly direction to its junction with BEACON LANE, NEWBURGH.
2. Nothing in this order shall apply to persons engaged in the carrying out of the works.
3. The prohibition will be operative from 09:30 -15:30 hours on Monday 18th August 2025 or until completion of the works within this period. Access for emergency services will be maintained whenever and wherever possible.
4. Vehicular access for residents will be maintained whenever and wherever possible. Pedestrian access to properties will always be maintained.
5. An alternative route for vehicular traffic affected by the closure is via:-
Cobbs Brow Lane, Cobbs Clough Road, Glenburn Road, A577 Neverstitch Road, A577 Ormskirk Road, A577 Blaguegate Lane, A577 Dicketts Lane, A577 Wigan Road, B5240 Plough Lane, B5240 Hall Lane, A5209 Lowry Hill Lane, A5209 Course Lane and vice versa
The temporary prohibition is necessary to allow engineers to carry out pole test works.
