What is happening?
WILDLIFE AND COUNTRYSIDE ACT 1981 – SECTION 53
WEST YORKSHIRE METROPOLITAN COUNTY COUNCIL DEFINITIVE MAP AND STATEMENT FOR THE KIRKLEES AREA
KIRKLEES COUNCIL (KIRKBURTON 259) DEFINITIVE MAP MODIFICATION ORDER 2025
The above Order, made on 23 May 2025, was confrmed by Kirklees Council on 23 July 2025 as an unopposed order.
The effect of the Order is to modify the Defnitive Map and Statement for the area by adding a footpath as follows:
A public footpath 1.2 metres wide as shown on the Order Map by the broken black line with short intervals some 208 metres in length commencing on the eastern side of Hermitage Park north of No. 14 Hermitage Park at grid reference SE 1917 1472 (Point A on the Order Map) and leading south-easterly into Lepton Great Wood to join Kirkburton 85 at grid reference SE 1936 1465 (Point B on the Order Map).

Copies of the Order and the Order Map may also be inspected free of charge at Almondbury Library Hub, Fairfeld Road, Almondbury, Huddersfeld HD5 8TD (during normal opening hours). Copies may also be made at standard photocopying rates.
This Order comes into force on the day on which it was confrmed i.e. 23 July 2025 but if any person aggrieved by the Order desires to question its validity, on the grounds that it is not within the powers of Section 53 or 54 of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 or that any requirements of Schedule 15 to the Act have not been complied with in relation to it, may within 42 days of this notice make an application to the High Court under paragraph 12 to Schedule 15 of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981.
