What is happening?

Various Roads, Langport in the Parishes of Langport and Huish Episcopi (Temporary Prohibition of Parking) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that on the 25th day of July 2025 Somerset Council made the above Order in exercise of the provisions of Section 14 (1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as previously advertised on the 17th day of July 2025, to introduce a temporary prohibition of parking as specified in the Schedule below. This Order will come into operation on the 31st day of July 2025 and will remain in force for eighteen months. The parking restrictions will come into force, as signed on site, on the 4th day of August 2025 until the 31st day of August 2025 (between 0000 hours and 2359 hours). The restriction is in place to alleviate traffic congestion during the Network Rail works within Langport, and to help reduce risk of damage to listed monument (Hanging Chapel). The restrictions will only apply when indicated by traffic signs. The full restrictions may not always be required and may be amended as and when needed.
Exemptions are provided in the Order for emergency vehicles. A copy of the draft Traffic Regulation Order and the associated plans can be examined at www.somerset. gov.uk/TRO For information about the works being carried out please contact Network Rail on 03457 114141.

Schedule - Temporary Prohibition of Parking 
The Hill, Langport - for its entire length
Hanging Chapel Road, Langport - for its entire length
The Avenue, Langport - from its junction with the A378 Moor Close and the A378 Somerton Road in a northerly direction for a distance of 50 metres

Station Road, (Eastover) Langport - from its junction with the A378 Moor Close and the A378 North Street in an easterly direction for a distance of 50 metres 

Statement of reasons for making the Order
a) because works are being or are proposed to be executed on or near the road; or b) because of the likelihood of danger to the public, or of serious damage to the road, which is not attributable to such works.
